I just heard that. I think the right decision was made. I dont understand how her parents COULD WANT her to live like that? I feel their pain, understand it? But C'mon, Why would they want to see her suffer?

Agree 100%...I experienced this first hand with my grandma...She had a feeding tube for 3 years due to the final stages of Parkinson's Disease....It is one of the hardest decisions to even have the feeding tube placed there in the first place...To see how much they actually suffer with the tube & then to know it is artifically keeping them alive, it is heart wrenching...You really can't see someone suffer like that

I can't say that agree with the decision as the rest of you do...but I just pray that she goes peacefully...because dehydration is not the best way to GO either...
JMO it does not matter what we all think. Make your health care proxies so that you can make the decision for yourself. However I don't agree that this act was very legal (what the courts should have done is say that there is nothing written so, legally, they can not remove the tube). To decide that someone should die because they are not cognitively there is scary.

What I dont understand is didn Terry once say that if she was ever to become like this, she did not want machines to keep her living?
What more do you need than to respect the 'patient's' wishes??

I had this conversation with my father last night, and it brought him to tears. My Dad doesn't cry.
My point was that Terry has suffered enough, and she will not even be able to process the fact that she no longer has a feeding tube - they should let her go naturally.
My Dad's point was that he saw Terry's father on the news. That man SWEARS that his daughter can hear him, and that she knows he is there.
My Dad said he could NEVER EVER EVER give up on a child - even if all the medical knowledge proves she is a vegetable. As long as her father 'feels' she is with him, he can't let her starve to death. Tears were flowing down my father's cheeks as he said this.
I was surprised to learn that my dad and I had different perspectives on this, because we are usually 100% in agreement on issues like this. Maybe things will change when I become a parent.

my opinion on this that i am glad they are not reinserting the tube like i said previously if it was me on the feeding tube and i was in a coma for 15 years i would just want to die dont leave me on there what life am I going to have i am not going to wake up i am not going to have a normal life if i had severe brain damage i would say just let me go. I am glad terry wont be suffering anymore and know she will go peacefully. its time for her parents to let her go this has been going on wat too long. i am going to pray for her and that she goes peacefully and fast. my heart goes out to her parents but they seriously need to let her go. its soo sad.![]()

The thing is also that it's not machines keeping her living...it's only the food. That's why it's so controversial I think. if she were ona ventilator and they decided to pul the plug, we would never have even heard about it

She collapsed once, then had a stroke.. her conditions has been worsing.
Besides.. if she could smile or blink they'd be able to ask her outright her intentions of life.
