Yeah Its a shame.... but this is jhow Spanish ppl are!!!

Shoot

YOu should Seen MY PARENTS n Luis' Mom Reaction when we told them We are Engaged!!! LOL

'OMG YOU ARE PREGNANT!'

I Laugh n got Mad right away!!!!!!!

Sad but true......I'm glad I'm doing things a little different in my family. My fiance and I are both Dominican.

Yup...
We are doing things different too,...
Not kids as of right now...
Most hispanic ppl ASSUME right away since we got 'engaged' we are living together n I AM PREGNANT!!!! I HATE IT!!!

I hate when ppl already Assume I am marrying Luis bc IM PREGNANT!

If you are, thats a long a$$ pregnancy...LOL

I'm going to disagree..
Weddings are very expensive and not everybody can afford it. Also most people move in together to try it out and see what happens and then years pass by and priorities change. And I don't think this is just a Latin 'thing'. It happens in every culture.

they just get pregnant n move in with the guy...
NOT ALL OF THEm but Most of them...

Crashing! This is sooo true! Either that or the weddings look like a prom or sweet 16.

BTW Disclaimer: I am spanish too so I feel confident in saying this.

See I am talking as of My country, i am not sure of urs chica but this is wat ppl do...

It's not a 'Oh I cant have a wedding let's just elope'..
Nope, It is not in their 'tradition' to do Engagements...
As soon as they move in together everyone assumes shes pregnant n its 'confirm' 9months lateR!

My parents didnt even know wat was the 'Engagement Ring'....

They move in, they are pregnant n get seperate in couple of years...
OF CORUSE there is always a VERY FEW PERCENTAGE that does the opposite.

I concur!!! I'm 1/2 Puerto Rican and 1/2 Ecuadorian and most of the woman in my family have gotten engaged then married and blah blah blah.... I believe that it happens in every culture and it mostly depends on someone's priorities. FH is Salvadorian and his family in El Salvador have had weddings and do know what an engagement ring is.

This made me laugh. FH is colombian and he would always tell me to have a baby first then get married. I was always like - say what?

It's true though. When I first got engaged I tried to find out some of the traditions but I came up with nothing. The only thing we are doing is playing some spanish music, picking a couple of spanish dishes and then on the way out our guests will get a coffee mug and a Buñuelo.

FH's family has been calling me his 'wife' for a while now. Even before we got engaged and we don't live together.

I'm 1/2 Bori and 1/2 Ecuadorian too! And so are 90% of the cousins in my family....boricuas sure do love their Ecuadorians!
I agree with you tho, on my mothers side of the family (Ecuadorian side), all the women go through the formal engagement and marriage, THEN have kids, very traditional. On my fathers side (PR) NOBODY is married, but they all have kids. Nothing against PRs ofcoarse, Im very proud of both sides of my heritage, but sadly the marjority or PRs raised out here are raised with different values than those raised in actual PR.

Hispanics can't have weddings cause we don't know how to tell time

latin clocks work on a different cycle

if your wedding starts at 4pm you better tell them 230, just so everyone will arrive by 330
