LAYOFFS AT CA....UPDATED: I still have a job

They just laid off a co-worker who's been in my dept. 21 yrs and there's more to come, I just heard

Please....send some prayers my way. I need it....today I may lose my job.

That sucks Denise! I know how you feel. The same thing happened here over the summer, we went down to 11 essential employees!

Best of luck to you!! I have sooooo many friends at CA who are all on the chopping block as well. I wish you all luck!!

I worked at CA for almost 5 years before my dept was axed and we were given the choice of either moving to FL if we wanted to stay with the company, or leave all together... I left! There are better places out there to work (I'm at one now! ) and I'm sure it will be THEIR loss if they let you go.

Sounds exactly like what I went through at Cablevision 2 years ago...it was so depressing.

Thanks ladies, for all the prayers and crossing of fingers and toes,lol..
We were told that is all the layoffs there will be in my dept. and that we are all safe now.

This is THE WORST feeling I have ever experienced at work. I hope I never have to go through this again...I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!
I pray for anyone who is in this kind of situation or who does lose their job....and for the rest of the good people in my company who will lose their jobs by the end of this month. ....

I have been through this so many times-- the anticipation, the survivor guilt if you don't get laid off.. as well as dealing with being laid off myself.

Not matter what- it is never as bad as you think. Try to stay positive.

oh thats a great news but sad for all these people that lost their jobs

Alleluiah! I'm so relieved for you - we've gone through this at our office since 9/11 many times (we've lost almost our entire dept., then hired several folks, lost more again, and now we just recently hired a bunch & hope it's over!) Insanity, but even more so when you're planning a wedding. Glad you're safe! Thanks for the update.

My FH's best friend worked in the event planning department, and they took a huge hit last week. All of his friends in the dept got laid off, and they told them at 11:30 and said they had to be out by noon. Their email was deactivated immediately... Scary! They got a small severence pay--I think 8,000, but that won't pay the bills for too long!

I heard about event management's lay offs. A lot of people lost their jobs. It's something we always have to worry about in this business....makes me wonder how some people last 20+ yrs!
