LAYOFFS AT CA....UPDATED: I still have a job

They just laid off a co-worker who's been in my dept. 21 yrs and there's more to come, I just heard

Please....send some prayers my way. I need it....today I may lose my job.

my sister used to work there and her husband and my aunt work there.

what department do you work in?

my sister was in hr and my aunt is in telecommunications.....

My FH's best friend worked in the event planning department, and they took a huge hit last week. All of his friends in the dept got laid off, and they told them at 11:30 and said they had to be out by noon. Their email was deactivated immediately... Scary! They got a small severence pay--I think 8,000, but that won't pay the bills for too long!

Oh my gosh! I've heard that about them, walking you out to your car and all...

so scary...

my father just recently got a job after being laid off last June (he worked for Worldcom)... It's scary... I wish all of those who were laid off the best of luck in finding a new job!

Hello All - to give you an update, yes development did take a big hit. The reason I know this is due to I was let go today. I worked for the company just about seven years.
We'll I guess the good thing about it is that I have extra time to plan my wedding - that is next Friday.

Oh my gosh, Marcie! What friggin' timing. However, your outlook is wise and positive - you needed this time now so things happen for a reason. I wish you the best and have a terrific, stress-free wedding and subsequent job hunt.

I'm so glad to hear that your job is safe!

I work at CA also in the CDC and we are so worried for some of our children and their parents. It is just awful waiting day after day to find out who it is going to be today.

I'm praying for those still going through this agony.
