Ever been to a wedding and think you don't want THAT to happen at your own wedding? I'm going to start a thread...
I've been to weddings where:
-Bridesmaids' dates were seated with the 'random' table. It was so obvious that he didn't know anyone. He should have been seated with his date.
-The acoustics were poor during the ceremony so none of the guests could hear the vows.
-There was no clear gift area. We didn't know where to put their envelope so we placed it on the table where we got our table numbers.
-Big centerpieces that blocked the view from seeing the bride and groom as well as blocking the view from the people sitting in front of you.
-Getting a tacky favor at the end. Please don't hand out cheap tacky favors that no one appreciates. It's better not to hand a favor out at all.
-Awkward time in between ceremony and reception. The guests have to 'kill' these hours and often have nowhere to go. Yet it's not enough time to plan something in between.

Here is the biggest mistake I've seen on this board (me included):
Losing sight of the REAL reason you're doing this!
LIW can be a bad thing in that you begin to compete with other brides and what they're doing, even unconciously.
You begin to think that matching the chairs to the linens to the cp's to the bouquets to the dress is a monumental decision to make.
You get completely freaked when there is rain forecast on your day - thirty days before your wedding!
You look at other women's dresses, centerpieces, cakes and wonder if you're doing enough or spending enough.
And the worst - putting yourself in a bad situation monetarily for a five hour occasion, for one day in your life.
Oh and bring yourself comfortable shoes or slippers to change into, just in case.
Agree 100%, we get sooo caught up in trying to make everything perfect...Even if its not about competition we stress about the tiniest things, like little things on the invitation that honestly besides us NOBODY notices, we need to remember that the wedding will be fine if those tiny things don't go right or arent PERFECT. You will barely even pay attention to it during your wedding. The planning process should be fun, if you are stressed all the time, and everything is becoming a pain then you need to step away and take a break and remember what this is all for.
