Leaving during reception?

We decided that we were leaving dring the recption and have our guests do a farewll or stay if they wanted.
We have an early flight and would rather not party til midningt. So we are going to do the traditional send off.

What are you guys plans....stayng to the end or leaving before?

I can't imagine my guests partying it up at my wedding without me being there. I'm paying for the whole thing and I want to be there for the whole thing. I'd rather sleep on the plane or when I get to my honeymoon destination than miss a single second of my once-in-a-lifetime (hopefully!) wedding.

We plan on staying until the very end! Alot of our OT guests are staying at the Inn so we might have a little after party, but I don't know if FI and I will attend that.

Re: Leaving during reception?

Well, I mainly chose to do this because of some experiences my friends have had. Most weddings I have been to the couple stayed but I have been to quite a few where the party was dying and people were tired but stayed because the couple was still there so we are leaving around 11 so that people have a choice. My parents will still be there and so will his.

I never understood the leaving early thing, but the reason you just gave makes sense, I suppose. Nevertheless, we are staying until the end... I'm paying for it, I'm going to enjoy every last minute of it from the CH to the Last Dance!

I am paying for the wedding and LEAVING EARLY. not too early- maybe 20 minutes early. I would rather have everyone wish us farewell and leave while the party is still going on. I can't bear to watch it end...

lmao

yeah..even though you have an early flight, you should try to stay till the end....an hour won't make much of a difference.. on you HM, you will have all the time to relax... you paid all this money...take advantage of it!!

I dont mind the whole money thing.
We just like the traditional way........having an exit to us is just as important as the welcome...and I would feel awful if the party started dying....rather envision it as fun til the end.

Misstene,
that is so great you are on a yacht.
We were going to do the same thing but my parents were not too keen on the church not being involved BUT alas...we are going to have our anniversary party on a yacht. so I guess I won in a sense.

Re: Leaving during reception?

if you leave early, when will your guests give you their envelopes?? most of our guests gave us their envelopes as THEY were leaving. if you leave early, won't people be upset if they haven't given you their gift yet??

Re: Leaving during reception?

I am not leaving like an hour early or anything like that. At most a half hour.
We are giving out one of our favors personally so they will get a chance then if they choose to......not really worrying about the gifts honestly.......

We stayed until the VERY end, although Dh left for alittle while to go puke in the bathroom! But we stayed and danced until the very end, most of our guests had left and we kept on going, but we didnt have an early flight the next day, I dont see anything wrong with leaving an hour early!

I highly recommend it. The Yacht I'm getting married on is only 10 months old. It's beautiful, luxurious and very contemporary. It's not fuddy duddy like the dinner cruise yachts. It has a spiral staircase, baby grand piano and the whole nine yards. It's gonna be a blast, plus the guests are in for a treat as well. It was either that or we were going to have a destination wedding. So... I guess the family had to yield to what we wanted or they wouldn't get anything at all!

You'll love your anniversary party. Let me know if you're interested in my Yacht info!

ETA: It also have a separate bridal suite complete with vanity and full bathroom (shower etc.) Very very nice.

Our guests gave us their envelopes right when they got there, we had the cake card holder and it was filled during the cocktail hour!
