YES - you did! My FMIL gave us her list of 250 and we cut her down! But we STILL are at 375! We easily could have done 425.

My cousin invited over 500 and had 440 at her wedding! Yikes!

We are not rich and we don't have this $$ so I don't know. The thing is, even when you get help from parents (since they are the reason for the big list - we would have had 100 b/w FH and myself), there are still hidden costs such as: centerpieces for 30 tables, favors, photogs who want 2 people for such a big wedding, invites, thank yous, thank you pics, save the dates, etc.

THe sick part is that I can honestly say that i know ALOT of these people... I never knew that!

I lost touch with sooo many people over the years that I guess in a way I lucked out at scraping up 150 My mother lives in Fla. so theres no one she'll be inviting. My dad passed away and he wasn't close to his realitives except immediate brothers and their kids, so extended family there is out. FH mother doesn't speak to her family so they are out and his step-dads immediate family is enough. FH real dad doesn't have much family so it's just him and his wife who wont come becasue she doesn't get along with FMIL. Since we have had kids we haven't been very social so it's not like we have tons of friends like when we were younger so yeah we pretty much had to scrape up 150 to make our min.

It's gonna be big and ask Kissy - it's gonna be TIGHT at the Floral Terrace!

But I've totally embraced the idea of a big fat wedding and I am happy with it. Between me and my parents, it's only 130 - so it's my in-law side that has tons of people.

I just don't know HOW to pay for it and I am currently trying to figure out how to make all the tables look absolutly gorgeous with my original budget!

It will get done! But I am slightly jealous of gals with 10 tables! :(

I knew it was big, but I didn't realize HOW big until people started commenting on it.

It's gonna be BIG, FAT and AWESOME!

One of the benefits to guaranteeing such a high amount was getting a good deal per person- we felt like kings and queens everywhere we went and we really liked looking at places! the catering people salivate when they saw us coming!!! hahha. We are getting Surf-and-Turf and I can't imagine them bringing in like 400 lobster tails.... that's a WHOLE LOTTA lobster!

I'm Italian Too MaryMoon - and so is FH - so that's where the #'s really add up!

We always knew that it would be big, so we prepared for it. It stunk when I loved one place and couldn't do it because of the occupancy.

A funny side story for you all, my dad is a fire inspector and seriously, would shut down my wedding if they went over the real occupancy (the REAL REAL occupancy). so everywhere i went i would say, 'how many can you hold' - they would give me a # and I would say, 'my dad is a fire inspector and he wrote summonses to my alma mater on my graduation day -- what's your real occupancy' - at least 2-3 places told me the real # - which was lower.

Every party/restaurant we go to, my father checks to see that the doors are not obstructed and that there are no fire violations! it's hilarious!

Well I am glad to know that your dad is watching out of us Leese! I can't even imagine having that many people...

FH & I are both Italian but unfortunately our families did not reproduce the typical amount!

Thank You!!! You make me feel better for having a list of 275. I was starting to have anxiety attacks but you seem REAL calm about your 375! Make me feel better! CONGRATS!

YEah I can easily do 375 too. If you come from a big family it's not hard to do. But, I sat down with my parents and explained the costs and we figure 200-225 would be a nice number.

375!!! Wow you are going to have writers cramp with the thank you notes. Is there a possibility of cutting his family down to maybe first cousins or no children, that's what my FH and I had to do to keep the numbers down.

actually, that's without kids and only first cousins! :) Oh and about thank you cards - believe me, that's my only concern since FH WON'T DO THEM!!!!! But at that point, I'll be so excited to have something wedding-related to do.


KandM: don't sweat it. I am so not worried at all. It's going to be big and gorgeous. If everyone person there is someone special, then it doesn't matter how big the party is-unless you can't pay the man at the end of the night:) ...

marcandrai: I'm sure that there are a lot of people who can get up that high - it's not too hard if you have tons of fam and everyone has different groups of friends! That's great that you were able to get it lower. It wasn't really a matter of us sitting our fams down and saying, 'No' we can't have that much (except for my FMIL's 250 person list - we cut her down and she now has a huge 'B' list). We just always knew it would be big and we are just excited to spend it with all these important people.

This was a funny thread for me - and I have been telling my FH about it... We just never thought it was that big of a deal to have this amount.

Whether it's big or small, all of our weddings are going to be fantastic! I don't think it's a matter, for us, of wanting some big huge celebration - it's just who we want to be there to share the day. And since we aren't rich and are paying for the bulk ourselves, we KNOW how lucky we are to be able to pull it off. Tho, now that we are starting to save, it stinks! I said, 'Does this mean no more mani/pedis?' to FH!!!!!


Now....does this mean I can't complain for the next year when I have millions of favors, invites, notes, save the dates, hotel rooms to block, centerpieces, and on and on and on??
