Melissa was ALMOST my name...it was a choice bet. two Allmann Bros Band song names...Melissa or Jessica....somehow Jessica won out...

my mom was a '70's teenager...what can I do! I could have been named Led Zepplin or Pink Floyd!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! My mom told me the EXACT SAME STORY!!! Ultimately, she liked the song Jessica better!!!!!!!!! Too funny!

My sis Jaime was named after a soap opera star... parents are wierd!

wait...let me get this straight..you and I are both named Jessica, named after the SAME Allmann bros song, and we are both marrying Leonard(o)'s

too crazy!

Well...I used to HATE my name Lu-Ann cuz I sounded like a hillbilly...what am I talking about I am a hillbilly, just transplanted to Long Island a few years ago...I guess when you grow up drinking Goats Milk a name like Lu-Ann is appropriate!

However, my parents were going to name me Benjamin, they never thought theyd have a girl (I have 6...yes SIX brothers)! SO on short notice, they did they best they could, and now I l really like having a name that is different, only met a couple of me so far

oh my god! I wanted to be Stacy too! I even named my Cabbage Patch Kid Stacy...it says so on her 'birth certificate' that I stumbled upon in my mom's house

and have one name I have 2 name pushed together and no one spells it right EVER

ok to add to my own post- i recall going to adventureland and pretending my name was stacy - when i was like 10 - (pretty funny precurser to my future because in bars i used to pretend i had a different name too)

Ok, I wish I was a Jennifer. No reason..just liked it.
Very popular like Debbie though.
I did ask my parents if they had an alternative name for me. Now Im the 1st grandchild born on both sides so my grandma tried to convince them to go w/Ramona, her middle name.

Terrible experience with names when I went to Sesame Place and they had NOTHING monogrammed with my name on it....went crying to my parents and asked them 'why would you do this to me?'
Now I love it....especially when it's pronounced the spanish way (the way it's meant to be said!)

Okay, I just have to tell you guys that I almost ended up Barbie instead of Beth. I am Jewish, and so my parents wanted to name me with a 'B' after my aunt Bessie. Let me tell you, I am sooooo glad I'm not Barbie!!

I hear ya. My parents needed an L name and everyone was LISA in 1970. Or Lauren or Lori. I was named for my Grandmother Lillian. After more than 30 years, I came to learn that Grandma wasn't born as Lillian, rather Frieda. Thank goodness. I dont like any F names for girls.

I, for one, would have preferred 'Rachel' for myself. I LOVE LOVE LOVE biblical names.

My BF (MOH) and I go out on the town and make up names...and careers...it's great...try it sometime.

She works for the NYPublic Library, and her name's Alaina Marie....

When we're out: she's a Math teacher, and her name's Mariealaina

Me on the other hand:

Christine Ann working in Finance

OMG - that is sooo funny. My girlfirend and I used to do that all the time. Never made up names, but definately changed professions. She was usually a manicurist, and I was a massage therapist. Once however, at that club in East Meadow near Zachary's we pretended we were peanut farmers that had supplied the bar with the peanuts. We had an elaborate story about them being grown in water and taking surveys as to whether they were better than the peanuts had the previous week.
