Re: Lemme try this, LOL!
Hello.
I purchased my gown from Blanches in East Rockaway. Its a small store with a big selection. The service is wonderful. I have already gone for my 2nd fitting and the seamstress knows her stuff. My dress is from MoniqueBridals, very simple
Good Luck

Re: Lemme try this, LOL!
I purchased my dress form RK Bridal in Manhattan. Dress was delivered earlier that aniticpated and I had no problems with the service. The only problem I had was that they did a horrible job on the bustle.

Bridal Couture, Manhasset
Dress was wonderful. Seamstress was sweet and did a fine job. Dress came in early and was ordered promptly after I placed my ordered (I verified with mfg). The store itself has its moments. My salesperson was wonderful, Lee. I had two or three run in with the people there when I came in to visit my dress or ask a question about the dress. But the last couple times I went in for my fittings, they were very nice...it was strange.

Bridal Suite of Centereach. Debi and Amy are wonderful. I have not one negative thing to say.
What type of budget are you working with? Certain places cater to certain budgets better than others.

As I posted before Bridal Suite in Centereach. I haven't gone for any fitting yet so I don't have info on that. So far they have been great!

I got my dress from Davids, but had the laterations done elsewhere. I had a good experience with them with buying the dress, but I had heard horror stories re: their alterations.

Re: Lemme try this, LOL!
I had to buy two gowns due to a horrible experience at the first shop (never knew my dress was there until two weeks before the wedding ) Paradise Bridal, Patchouge - Terrible experience overall - Never got alteration - I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Burtons Bridals, Melville/Huntington - Buying experience was great - Really, really inexpensive (over $300 less than retail on the dress + free tiara and veil). Alterations - To my dismay, I put the gown on the day of the wedding and the hem was totally screwed up. There was a crease where it should have been but no hem! Crooked and horrible. The dress was so tight under my arms that it gave me bruises. Needless to say, I was not happy with the alterations.

Re: Lemme try this, LOL!
I also bought my dress from Davids. The reason I went there was because I am plus size and I wanted to be able to try a dress on...not just put it up to me and pretend what it would look like on. i had tried a few on...fell in love with on in particular and ordered it. As soon as it came in...I tried it on...and took it home. I had the alterations done elsewhere.
As fas as customer service they $uck big time. If I had not falling in love with the dress (and had a budget) I would have bought elsewhere!
If you want to go and try on a bunch of dresses to see what style looks good on you then go to Davids but they are not high on the list of 'good' shops
No matter where you go. make sure you are comfortable with the salesperson.
Good Luck!

Re: Lemme try this, LOL!
I purchased my dress from David's in Yonkers.
I had a good experience with them in terms of purchasing the dress. I did go during the week, so I was able to get alot of attention.
Be careful of the type of dress you buy from them, some of them are not the best material. I got lucky that mine is very nice and well made , but some are not.
Try RK Bridal, just go during the week in the daytime.

Lillette's Also! I didn't know all of you Dec. brides were Lillette's?! I'm going for my second fitting next week. We got our girls' dresses there, too. Verrrry reasonable. We dealt w/Kathy (the owner) a few times and she was as great as the girls. It's a family place, I'd definitely send friends there! And I work in town, so its very easy.
Good luck!
