I'm looking to set the time for the ceremony. We will be having Catholic mass with unity candle and rosary/lasso, I'm anticipating an hour and 15 minutes and then additional 15 minutes outside for petal cones ect.
Any advice?

Re: Length of Catholic Mass?
I think you should expect the mass to be about an hr - hour and 10 min and then about a half hour to greet your guests and take some pics

Re: Length of Catholic Mass?
The Unity Candle: one of the most common ceremonies. The bride and groom each take a lit candle and simultaneously light a third larger 'unity candle.' They may blow out their individual lights, or leave them lit, symbolizing that they have not lost their individuality in their unity. Stores are now selling elaborate unity candle setups, including a candleabra that holds the central unity candle higher than the others. You may also have your unity candle personalized with your names and the date, allowing it to be a keepsake from your wedding.
In Hispanic Countries- the Mother of the Groom lights one candle and hands to the Groom, Mother of Bride lights the other candle and hands to the Bride, together Bride and Groom light the Unity Candle.

Re: Length of Catholic Mass?
45min for a full mass. you can just have the ceremony if you wanted to make it shorter and not receive communion. that's a personal choice!

I think the length of the Mass also depends on the length of the homily. I was at a wedding this weekend where the Mass was an hour and 20 minutes because the priest went on and on in the homily. At my brother's wedding the priest kept it short and we were out of church in less than an hour.

Re: Length of Catholic Mass?
I've been to ones that have ranged from 40 min to over an 1:30 minutes.... (that one felt like it went on forever ...they must have had like 5 people speak !!!)
So I think a basic one is around 40 min. and whatever you want to add in it is extra !

ours was a shade under an hour, but our receiving line took like 30-40 minutes in the vestibule of the church

That is long for a receiving line. At my church you have to choose btw receiving line or going back into church for more pics. I think they literally book weddings every hour! So I'm doing pics, and we'll just go around to each table at wedding. Do you think that's okay?

i will say that honestly most receiving lines go quick. There was even a thread asking girls how long theirs took and most said about 10 mins. It goes by fast bc youre standing right before the doors as theyre walking out and most honestly just say congrats, hug you and go on their way bc they dont want to hold up the line. We also didnt do it with our whole bp that wouldve been crazy, but just us and our parents.
I did the receiving line bc we did have people at the church ceremony that werent coming to the RH. For example our rb's grandparents came just to see him, they weren't invited. But then i had someone else invited but it was the day of her daughters birthday party so she came just to ceremony, and then a few people in the same situation.

Re: Length of Catholic Mass?
The Order of Mass The Mass is divided into five parts: gathering and entrance rite, Liturgy of the Word, marriage rite, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and concluding rite. The service should last a bit over an hour.
The gathering and entrance rite is a procession of the celebrant priest and deacon, the attendants, and the bride and groom to the altar. The priest greets the community and blesses them. There may be a penitential rite, which consists of a communal prayer for mercy and forgiveness, followed by a prayer or song called the Gloria.
The Liturgy of the Word consists of three readings from the Bible, chosen by the couple, all of which will probably have something to do with marriage. Friends and family members will be chosen to read the Scripture. First will be a reading from the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament; then a psalm, either read from the Book of Psalms, or a song based on one; then a reading from the New Testament. There will also be a reading from one of the four Gospels, preceded by a special Alleluia prayer or song called the Gospel Acclamation. (Christians who are able to do so should remain standing during the reading from the Gospel.) After the Gospel, the officiant will give a short homily reflecting on the marriage that is about to take place.
The marriage rite follows. The familiar exchange of vows and of rings will take place first, sealing the marriage. (This may seem anticlimactic to those who are used to seeing this part happen at the very end.) After the rings are exchanged, the Mass continues. Prayers for the newlyweds, for the community, and for various groups of people will be offered up.
The Liturgy of the Eucharist is when Communion is offered to the congregation. Bread and wine will be blessed and prepared to become the Eucharistic meal. We will pray the Lord’s Prayer together, then spend a few moments to offer one another a sign of peace in the form of a handshake or hug. Then the bread and wine will be distributed.
The concluding rite consists of a blessing of the community and of the newlyweds, a dismissal, and a recessional song. Guests should wait until the wedding party and priest has left before leaving their seats to exit the church.

i agree...the homily can make the mass lengthy.
most that ive been to are about 45-60 min. the last one ran a little over because an aunt spoke a little too long (she presented the papal blessing but then decided it was okay to talk for 10 min).
the last two receiving lines i remember took 15 min or so....just have the parents + the couple and make sure there is someone to move people along.
