Anyone ever been there for a wedding or had their wedding there? I'm really leaning towards having it there because the prices are pretty good, and you get a lot of food. I haven't seen the room yet though because there was a wedding there. I'd be having it in the Continental Room? Any opinions?

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I was there for a wedding a few weeks ago. (perisian room -I think) The place is beautiful.
The only thing that I didn't like was there were a few wedding going on (I think around 3) and when we came out of our room I had to walk through 3 different curtains to exit the building. I felt funny walking throught other peoples parties.

Thankfully, for the room we would have, you would walk through the entrance, and then just go all the way down to the left corner. Doesn't look like you'd have to walk through any weddings. When did you go? I know they just renovated it like six months ago.
Edited: Duh, I just saw you put a few weeks ago.

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
Like I said...the place itself is VERY pretty!!
and I personally have never heard anything bad about it...expect the fact that they do more than 1 wedding there at a time...but HELLO?? Most places do that!!
Good Luck!

That's true, and they make sure not to schedule the start of them at the same time, so to avoid chaos of guests going to different weddings. Thanks for the info!

I haven't been to a wedding there but we had my Dad's 50th b-day party in the same room you are talking about. I love Leonards. The place is very pretty and classy. There were other events going on the same evening, but we didn't really care. No one had to walk through curtains to get out of the room. That is kind of weird. If you are pretty sure Leonard's is on top of your list, I would bring that situation up to the BM. It doesn't make sense how they would have guests do that.

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I heard the place is great but for some reason when i went there with my FI to get prices they were so rude to me. Not to mention they let me see one of the rooms while the newlywedded couple was being announed as man and wife for the 1st time pictures were being taken and she was just like loook at the room the dancefloor is so bug...i'm like we are in there way nd their spotlight had that been my wedding i would have killed her!!! And not to mention me and my FI are young i am 23 and he 26 but i look like 20! We informed her we were paying for our own wedding and she was like well let me show you the cheapest room and you dont have to get everything on this menu....hey lady you dont know how much we can afford dont assume so i told my fiance NO WAY in the WORLD am I am giving them my HARD EARNED money! but other then my experience my inlaws got married as well as one of my BM. They all loved it! i happened to get a ***** that day! lol

I found it very weird myself. There was an exit right by our room but they had a sign up that said 'please use next exit.
It may be possible that it was because it was a Sun. wedding?? Not sure...but the bride asked that they unlocked that exit as soon as she noticed we had to exit through other parties. They did it with no problems.

Cat that wasn't very nice of them to do that. What if someone tripped or who knows what ya know? Violet I would ask them about that. I would be irked myself if I saw my guests doing that to get out.

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
We actually weren't allowed to see the room since there was a wedding going on, so I guess they stopped showing them to people while any weddings were going on.
I didn't like the receptionist who took down my information. She was getting snotty when she couldn't understand how to spell my street name. I was like 'do you want me to write it myself?' because she was getting on my nerves. But then I was like, I'm not going to have to deal with her, she probably makes 6 bucks an hour, so she doesn't care, but first impressions are important. But she did all instantly get nice when any banquet workers went by her. But the guy we talked to was very nice and let us customize what we wanted, and gave a really good price.

It was kinda funny cause at first I was like what the Heck is that???
When we first got there there weren't any curtains anywhere!
Then I had to actually pull at the curtain to find the opening...so I'm sure I looked like an A$$ when I finally found it!

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I booked Leonards for the Continental room for a Friday night wedding. I've had nothing but good experiences with them they have been really accomadating with me so far. The Continental room is beautiful, it's newly renovated with marble floors. There will def not be anybody walking through the room b/c it only has that 1 entrance. The food is great I already went for a tasting! I dealt with Ernie and he was really nice and helpful. What I like is that all you do is put a deposit and no Money is due until 8 weeks before the event. if you have anymore questions FM me. Good luck!!

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I'm there for 6/12/04. Maybe they made you walk through the curtain because they were still doing renovations...just a thought.
Either way, they are great to us and we are thrilled that we will be there!

I have been to two weddings there and I had a great time at both. The food was good, the vienese (sp?) hour was amazing and the rooms were beautiful.

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
Went there for a luncheon once & it was nice. Altho I personally never attended a wedding there, my Mom did & enjoyed herself.
I too found them a little rude & not very accomodating when we scoped it out for our reception. The biggest turn off? We're getting married Columbus Day weekend & Leonards was the only reception site we visited that wanted to charge us extra $$ for a 'holiday weekend.' But had we liked the place enough, we would've paid extra, just wasn't for us. Good luck in your site search.

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I recently heard some not so great things...nothing too bad, but still... I heard that someone I know had one room booked for the cocktail hour and one booked for the reception. When everyone got there, they had the cocktail hour set up in a totally different room! They were very upset. Then, the tables (and band) were set up differently than they requested at the reception!! Finally they said the main person was no where to be found most of the night. He greeted them, and then made sure he followed them out for HIS TIP at the end of the night!! I've never been there, but I would be skeptical hearing this. I hope this helps!!

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
That was the first place FH and I looked at. It was nice, but I didn't like the room they were offering us and the woman we dealt with was very pushy. We thanked her for all the info and told her we were still looking and we would get back to them if we were interested. Well, that woman called me about a thousand times the following week to see if we booked anything. She was calling morning, noon and night. I didn't care for that at all. But the place is absolutely gorgeous. I ended up not booking it because I wanted a place that only did one wedding at a time. Good Luck!! I am sure no matter where you have it it will be perfect!!!

Re: Leonard's in Great Neck?
I am getting married there in 19 days and every reception hall has good and bad things. I personally have been extremely happy with the service. I have gotten superior attention thus far. I will reprot more after the wedidng but i have no worries they will do all they can to make me happy.
