One of my girlfriends getting married this Oct. wants to not give favors instead make a donation in that guest name to the American Cancer Society, in memory of a friend who passed away let me know what you think TIA

We're doing the same thing except were donating to diabetes because FH's father died from complications of the disease. And also my mom has diabetes. Plus everyone knows someone with diabetes. I just thought it would be nice to honor his father....

A lot of brides do that now especially if someone they know has delt with a serious sickness. The last few weddings we went to did donations. I think people find that to be a beautiful gesture

make sure to let the guests know somehow that a donation has been made. I liked the 'cancer braclet' idea. or just a simple note card stating where the donation has been made

not my cup of tea - JMO i donate a lot of money all through the year, but i just dont feel that my wedding is the time or place for it - FOR ME, not saying it is wrong for anyone else and i don't mean to offend anyone
to me, the favors are a way of saying thank you to the guests

i think its great we doin it in memory of my dad... Im doing the candle placecard thing, so its kinda like the guests can leave with somethin too, but i love the donation favor idea!
