Let me see if I can word this right...

at what age do you think it is ok to invite cousins to our wedding if we are having no kids? Example: My cousin has 3 kids. One will be 18 by the time the wedding is here, one is 14 and the other is 9. I dont have an issue inviting the 18 year old but is it wrong NOT to invite the other two b/c they are so young? Same goes for FH's side.

Did I explain this right?

I would say 18 is a good age to start inviting if you're not having kids. However...I dont think you should invite one cousin and not the other two even though one will be of age. Just my opinoin.

See I am confused over this as well. I planned on not inviting kids, but I have my cousins from Florida and California that I am inviting. Not sure where to cut this off either.

Its not wrong to make an age limit as the cut off. Just because the one sibling is old enough and the other two aren't doesn't matter.

Hmmmmmm....this is a tough one. I'm thinking when most people say they don't want kids...I was thinking like no younger than 8 or 9 or even maybe 16. You just don't want little kids running around or screaming. Once kids reach a certain age, they know how to behave at a function like this. (I would think).

To answer your question, and obviously this is just my opinion, I wouldn't invite just one cousin and leave the others out. Invite all or none. but again 9, 14 and 18 should all behave accordingly...they're all old enough to act properly. Am I explaining myself correctly...LOL...

We decided to only invite cousins (or any kids for that matter) who are over the age of 16. We do have one cousin on FH's side who has 3 children. One is 21, the other 2 are under 12. We do not plan on inviting the younger two. We had to draw a line somewhere with kids otherwise I think we added it up to over 40 children!! Not only is it an expense we can't afford, but it would be like romper room with all those children!

We did spread the word (through family members) and so far everyone seems to understand. We basically explained it as we needed to draw a line somewhere. We did not want to offened anyone by inviting some children and not others, so we chose to invite only people 16 and over. The other thing we said was anyone under 18 will not be invited with a guest. Most people (at least NY'ers) get that weddings are pricey and kids cost just as much as adults. Plus if you make exceptions for some and not others, you end up with a whole other set of problems. ('Why did you inviter her kids and not mine')

I agree. My 1st cousin has 6 kids - ranging from ages 1 to 22. Our cut off is 21. Only my cousin's eldest son is invited. It would be too much to invite kids for us - all of our first cousins have bunches and bunches of kids....
