I AGREE 100000%!!!

I'm a Yankee fan ... FH is a Mets fan ... I went last year to Shea only because it was a company get-together for FH. Otherwise I rather not step foot inside.

Though I must try the chili dogs, at least it'll make it interesting while wathing them lose!

Same here. FH is a Yankee fan...but not a die hard fan...I'll get him to switch over to the other side...LOL.

Ugh OctGroom.. sometimes I swear I hear my FH's voice when I read your posts about the MUTTS (oops Mets) .. he loves his Mets too, even though in every other area of his life he has impeccable taste (i.e., ME!)

Easy? Says who?

When I was growing up in the 80's, the Yanks STUNK. My favorite player is Don Mattingly - Does he have any of those championship rings? Nuh-uh.

I love my Yanks.

Now I'll be my mother for a minute:
'Rachie, I love my Yankles.'
(I meant to spell it with an l - that's what she calls them - 'her Yankles')

We'll maybe you're a truer fan than some of those post 96-ers.

Re: Let the games begin...

This is coming from a Bronx native…I can’t stand the Yankees! When I was little my mom was a huge Yanks fan, but after they kept winning the World Series every freakin year, I just got a little sick of them. I like to root for the underdog, and while they fit that bill while I was growing up, I feel like the Mets deserve some love now…

I feel like that made no sense, but hopefully you get what I’m saying…

Your mother is so funny, Rachel!

I'm with you -- it hasn't ALWAYS been easy to be a Yankee fan. I've been a fan since I was a child and during the 80s (Loved Donnie Baseball!) For those who don't remember, they were some ROUGH years. People today only focus on the post-96 Yanks, but there were a lot of not-so-terrific years for us, too. Yes we win a lot, but back in '96 noone thought we make it to the W.S or beat the Braves ... and that wasn't a 'star filled' team either, by any means...

Its a Mets fans favorite line to say 'its easy to be a Yankee fan' I hear that all the time from FH, and its getting SO old.

As for bandwagon jumpers, funny how Shea Stadium was packed every game waaay back in '86 .. and in 2000 ... but you couldn't give tickets away to a game last year. The one time I went to Shea last year it was empty. Where was all the 'diehard, loyal' Mets fans then?? Hmmmm....??

I agree that it is not 'easy' to be a Yankees fan. People automotically assume that you were not a fan prior to 1996 (Kelly ). Even my stupid husband reacts like a bullet just hit him when I talk about Sax, Nokes, Nettles, etc. as if the only pre-96 Yankee I should have heard of is Mattingly.

Steve Sax! Wow, I'd forgotten all about him! My neighbor growing up had the biggest crush on him! Take that, Jeter!

I think of Willie Randolph, Dave Winfield, and what about my Dave Rigetti? I had a teddy bear named after him - Mr. Spaghetti (who disappeared )

Now I have two Yankee bears, named Mattingly (he's a panda bear - remember how Donnie used to put that paint stuff under his eyes?) and Paulie (O'Neil).

Hey, hey...I gave the benefit of the doubt and accepted that PrincessRose was a truer fan than most of the post 96-ers...There's nothing worse than a person who screams YANKEES but knows nothing about the team.

P.S. I'm not for any of those people who say: 'I'm a NEW YORK fan' either

Thank you for the benefit.

But I am a NY fan - If given the choice between rooting for the Mets or any other team (besides the Yanks), my love's going to the Mets. I just like the Yankees better, because my Mother would kill me if I didn't.

Y'all would get a kick out of my mom. She tells our dog to 'Suit Up!' whenever the guys are behind. By the end of the season I swear Biscut KNOWS when the Yankee game is on and goes to rest on the other side of the house, to avoid Mom.
