I don't care if the Mets lose 100 games this year. I'm with them 4 ever!

octgroom - sounds like a real fan!! and I agree with ya! They make it hard to love them - but been a Met fan all my life!! Born and raised a Mets fan! My all time favorite is Rick Aguilera but only because I had the hugest crush on him when I was in highschool...

Somehow I managed to marry a die hard - real - Yankee fan - not a fan just because they win now....he has always liked them and knows his baseball. It is difficult during baseball season but I am usually home first so I can control which we watch! Now the fight is how we will raise our children (not that we have any yet)? I say Mets fan because my family will never allow otherwise! I am sure the first thing my family will buy a child will be a Met jersey and hat! Can't wait!

And Paul O'Neill was my favorite Yankee in recent memory, along with Tino... [sigh..]

One of our GMs looks JUST LIKE PAUL O'NEILL.

I mean it. Holy cr@p just like him.

Funny part? He's a Mets fan. Hates the Yankees. Hates the fact that he looks like a Yankee.

I already have my Mom primed for the wedding. 'Wow, Chris, you really DO look like Paul O'Neill!'

Hmmm Rachel .. can I stop by at your wedding?? To see you also, of course!!

Poor guy, being a Mets fan I can see why he'd hate his resemblance to Paulie. But heck he's got to be great looking !!

Oh He IS. Chris is a real cutie. He's getting married in June though.

And I don't see why not! We'll talk about it when it gets closer!

Kelly I completely agree - my heart is always in my throat for those games.

It's almost as bad as when we play Boston.

Yes.. same situation with FW.. she's a Yankee fan the kids are definitely being brought up Mets fans. Some might consider this cruel .. but it's the best thing for the child.

They will learn to stay with a team through good and bad. They will learn that hard work and dedication is the way to glory. They will learn you can't buy your way to it.

They will learn that crying and stamping one's feet and being selfish and trying to buy other people off is not the way to glory. THey will know that they are not entitled to anything. It must be earned. They will learn humility.

They will root for the Mets. So it is written.. so it shall be done!

I'm talking about the out-of-control fans.

Both my brother and I (Yankee fans) found ourselves in love with Mets fans (FH and my SIL)... So he's been through the 'child raising' issue before I have. My brother just had his first baby and my SIL warned my family that NO YANKEE OUTFITS should be purchased b/c she would not dress Eric (my nephew) in such.

Then again, my brother and I share Yankee season tix.. and there are no Mets tickets.. so what do YOU think will happen when the little guy goes his first of many Yankee games!

As for me and FH .. we fight about this constantly. I think for the good of our marriage, we might just remain 'neutral' for the time being. Though orange & blue will NOT be allowed in our household!

I have had the same situation with FBIL and SIL.. both are Yankee fans

I think they'll be a complete turn aournd by the time their first child is born and they will be begging me to let them root for the Mets.

they can beg all they want......

Even when I was just 10 years old and in the 5th grade I was in tune to the attitude of arrogance that the Yanks had...
(That was around 1987, by the way)
Wait a minute...I'm going to be 2-7?????
