People automotically assume that you were not a fan prior to 1996 (Kelly ). Even my stupid husband reacts like a bullet just hit him when I talk about Sax, Nokes, Nettles, etc. as if the only pre-96 Yankee I should have heard of is Mattingly.

Hey, hey...I gave the benefit of the doubt and accepted that PrincessRose was a truer fan than most of the post 96-ers...There's nothing worse than a person who screams YANKEES but knows nothing about the team.

P.S. I'm not for any of those people who say: 'I'm a NEW YORK fan' either

I don't buy into the 'I'm A New York fan,' either. The ONLY time I was forced to root for the Mets was when they played Boston (in the '86 world series) and whenever they face the Braves (because I hate the Braves). Otherwise, I root against them vs. any other team.

You're either a Yankee fan or a Mets fan .. or neither! I respect Mets fans loyalty, and surely wouldn't expect them to root for US no matter what.

Steve Sax! Wow, I'd forgotten all about him! My neighbor growing up had the biggest crush on him! Take that, Jeter!

I think of Willie Randolph, Dave Winfield, and what about my Dave Rigetti? I had a teddy bear named after him - Mr. Spaghetti (who disappeared )

Now I have two Yankee bears, named Mattingly (he's a panda bear - remember how Donnie used to put that paint stuff under his eyes?) and Paulie (O'Neil).

I had a crush on Steve Sax, too. And I still get tears in my eyes when I see or hear O'Neil. My sister bought me his book last year for my birthday, it was really interesting. Reading about how close he was with his father, I don't know how he played those games after his death. It used to send me into a RAGE when people would say that I only liked the Yankees because Jeter is cute, because I would take the warrior over that pretty boy any day Its only going to get worse for us now that we have the prettiest left infield in baseball.

They do stink. But it's E-Z to be a Yankees fan!
I'm a Mets fan--always have been...Always will be.

Easy? Says who?

When I was growing up in the 80's, the Yanks STUNK. My favorite player is Don Mattingly - Does he have any of those championship rings? Nuh-uh.

I love my Yanks.

Right on!!!!

Go Yankees

I Loved Dave Righetti! Righetti-Spaghetti he made a commercial for that!! LOL)

Just LOVED HIM! I can remember when he pitched a no-hitter on the 4th of July , this was before he became a relief pitcher.

And Paul O'Neill was my favorite Yankee in recent memory, along with Tino... [sigh..]

YOU ARE DEFINATELY RIGHT...
Yes it is easy to be a fan ...they win, they make smart decision...
My FH loves the Mets but it is sooo sad...they are horrible..
with the lousy players mismanagement, internal conflicts, horrible playing,
and most of all THE CHOKING when they actually got the shot to win...
MAN...YES it is extrememly difficult to be a MET fan...

Even when they won the world series...let's face it...it was LUCK! that another
team choked before they had the chance!

Sad...soooo sa

Doesn't that just irk you when people just assume that if you are a WOMAN and a YANKEE fan its because you have a CRUSH on someone , i.e. Jeter? Jeter is NOT even on my top-10 list of favorite players.

In my pre-FH days, when I'd be at the bars around Yankee stadium, men would talk to me and my friends, and be SHOCKED to hear that we actually knew something about the game itself! I can talk baseball with the best of 'em, its not about the 'cute boys' on the team for me (though they certainly do not hurt , but that's beside the point!!)

One of our GMs looks JUST LIKE PAUL O'NEILL.

I mean it. Holy cr@p just like him.

Funny part? He's a Mets fan. Hates the Yankees. Hates the fact that he looks like a Yankee.

I already have my Mom primed for the wedding. 'Wow, Chris, you really DO look like Paul O'Neill!'

Hmmm Rachel .. can I stop by at your wedding?? To see you also, of course!!

Poor guy, being a Mets fan I can see why he'd hate his resemblance to Paulie. But heck he's got to be great looking !!
