Re: Let's chat
Growing up i lived on a private court and there was about 12 other kids (mostly around my age) and everyday after school we'd meet in the circle (of the court) and play sports or ride bikes. Every weekend we'd all go outside nice and early and play til the sun went down
Ahh to be young again. I miss those times and that house Oh and I miss watching Married with Children with my grandfather haha it was his favorite show!!! We did it everyday (reruns) right up until he passed away. He was my best friend

Re: Let's chat
mine is not one specific event. I loved the summer at my gradparents houe. They lived close to us, but we were always over there. They had a huge yard, a built in pool, and tons of kids in the neighborhood. I can remember swimming with my cousins and friends and hearing the ice cream man and running out to catch him... then we'd sit on the front stoop eating those red, white and blue ice pops... those were the days, man. I hope that I can give that to my children one day

Re: Let's chat
ok this may get long.
every single sunday in thesumer we did the same thing. . .
we would wake up and go to 8AM mass. Then go home and change into bathing suits and load up the car and go to the beach.
It would be my parents, aunt, uncle, brother, sister and three cousins. . . .my dad only knew one way to get to Jones beach and it did not involve any highways so we would drive to Jones beach down Sunrise the WHOOOOOOOOOLE way from Queens. . . .and we would pass this store that had this kid sitting on a toilet in the show window - does anyone remember that store? it was a major event when we passed it
anyway, my parents would pack lunch AND dinner - on real plates and silverware, with REAL cups!!! we would have actual meals like pasta, meat with a dessert of a billion fruits.
we would stay the WHOLE day until it was dark out and a few of us would fall asleep we would mostly play on the sand bc my parents believed this italian thing that you cant go in the water for like THREE HOURS after you eat or you would die, lol so we would walk around, eat, play in the sand or nap under the umbrella
then we would drive ALL the way home and everyone would fall asleep in hte car - my mom would throw me in the shower with my bathing suit on and basically just hose me down before bed so i wouldnt get sand everywhere
summers used to be so amazing!

i cant think of anythingi dont think my childhood was bad or anything, i just cant really remember anything that stands out - i guess i didnt have THAT much fun as a kid with my family....i do have great memories of when i was around 12-16 - i miss those days, they were great - i guess because i was with friends and escaping from my nutty family

Re: Let's chat
this is one of my earliest memories, and one of my faves. i was about 4-5 years old, my parents were still married at the time and i was the only child. all i wanted was the Barbie dream house. well, i woke up around 4 am to go to the bathroom, and there's a huge item in the middle of the living room, w/ a blue blanket thrown over it. of course, i had to peek!! it was the dream house!!!! i was so excited, but still went back to my bed. my parents were so disappointed that they missed my initial excitement when i discovered it, but my excitement never really died down that entire day!

Re: Let's chat
Another fond memory is of my grandpa. If my mom worked late on a Saturday night, I'd sleep at my grandparents house. Sunday morning, at about 6 am, I'd smell bacon and homefries. I would get up and my and grampy would have breakfast together. Then we would go to the den and watch mass on TV. I was really little, but I loved that time with him.
Also, if they were watching me during the week, after dinner, he and I would read the bible together for about an hour each night.
