The post on if you were surprised or not made me think that we should all share our proposal stories besides who doesn't love to relive that special moment?

Re: Let's share proposal stories
Here's mine. I copied and pasted from my website.
Well, Michele and Pat did things a little differently. They both went to the jeweler in NYC to pick out the ring. Michele had so much fun picking her diamond all the way to her setting. She was very excited to customize her ring. She knew she would soon be engaged but just didn't know when! The week of November 1st, Michele and Pat went to Myrtle beach for a week. Michele did not even expect to receive the ring as she thought she would get it around Thanksgiving or Christmas. On November 3, 2007 Michele and Pat went to Broadway on the Beach and walked past a waterfall. Pat stopped and showed Michele the waterfall and popped the question right then and there. Lucky for Michele and Pat, Pat's parents were there and were able to snap a picture of the proposal. Of course Michele said yes and put on that sparkly ring.
Picture of the proposal is in my album.

Re: Let's share proposal stories
I always knew where he would do it, even though he tried to psych me out saying that he knew I knew so he was going to do it somewhere differently.
We always go to Avalon park in Stony Brook Village, where the labrynth is. We have this little bench that's off the beaten path, even past where the labrynth is. We put our names and date on it, but the bench was replaced once before, so we had to do it again. So we go there on 6/22, and I knew it was coming because I knew he had asked my father the week before. We got to our bench, and it had been replaced, AGAIN!!! So he told me to take out my knife and really put it in good this time, so I'm fiddling around, and then he gets down on his knees and asks me. Good thing I liked the ring, since I was armed!

Re: Let's share proposal stories
FH had planned so many ways to propose and I kept messing it up lol. His first one was that he booked us a trip to the Atlantis and he was going to do it there. He asked me non nonchalantly if I wanted to go and i said we can't go on vacation we have to much coming up absolutely not lol. Good thing he had travel insurance. Next plan was to get me a puppy (I had to put my 18 year old dog to sleep in June and he knew how heart broken I was) so he asked me if I wanted a puppy I said nope not until we live together. He was going to have a collar made that said will you marry me. There were a few other attempts but those were the best. So finally we went to central park and he took me on a balloon ride which went over 400 feet over central park I kept snapping pictures. It was kind of scary because if you shifted your weight the slightest bit the whole basket would start swaying and moving around like crazy. So FH was like do you want to turn around and I was like no way I'm not moving anywhere so he said can you please turn around so I realized something had to be going on. So I finally turned around and he popped the question. Once we got to the ground he gave me my ring which I absolutely love. He couldn't have done a better job. Afterward he took me for oysters which are my absolute favorite!!!!

Re: Let's share proposal stories
I forgot to post mine lol. FH, had my now MOH tell me she had tickets for a charity event in the hamptoms, this way we would be all dressed up. As we were driving out there FH pretened that his car was breaking down and pulled into a parking lot and called his dad to get a number for a car service ( all of this was set up) When the car service got there it ended up being a limo, the driver said he just finished a wedding, so we hoped in, I was feeling bummed about the car breaking down, but then we just were laughing that we were going to arrive in a limo! Then the limo stopped and FH got out og the limo to see what was wrong, the driver than opned my door and said that FH wanted to see me, when I got out we were at a dock where we used to go when we first started dating and he was standing at the end with a photo album of all pics from our relationship, the last page he wrote, 'we have shared so many memories together, all I ask is for the opportunity to make many more, and then he got down on his knee and proposed! Then the limo took us to the resturant were we had our first date! It was so romantic!

Re: Let's share proposal stories
I'm lazy and just copied this from my album.
Keith proposed on St. Patrick's Day 07.
For our first Christmas together, he made me a scrapbook with pics of our first date, first vacation together, etc. We've added pages on to it since then. In early March he borrowed the book to 'show someone at work who was getting married.' (He was lying. :))
On St. Patty's Day he came over with a full dinner (corned beef, potatoes, etc) and had me look through the scrapbook again... the ring was tied to the last page that he made himself!

Re: Let's share proposal stories
The Date December 30, 2007 4 pm
The Place Montauk Lighthouse
The Setup We were dating about 6 months and we went out to Montauk to sit on the rocks by the lighthouse. As we were sitting there Rich turned to me and told me that he was so in love with me and wanted to marry me some day....
On December 30, 2007 about 4pm, Rich and I drove out to Montauk to stroll along the beach and climb out on the rocks. It was a bit chilly so we got some hot chocolate and I put on my gloves (he wouldn't put his gloves on and I kept asking him why). So we were sitting on the rocks watching the waves hit the rocks as the sun was setting, and Rich turned to me and said 'do you remember what I said to you out here when we were first dating?' and I said 'yes I do'.....and he said ' well I figured it was only fitting since I told you I wanted to marry you out here, that I would propose to you out here, will you marry me?' Of course I started crying and I said 'YES'....it was perfect, since it was a little chilly and getting dark there was nobody out there, it was only us....LOL he later told me that is why he didn't put his gloves on, because he was afraid of dropping the ring in the Atlantic Ocean.

Re: Let's share proposal stories
okay - sorry this is kind of long. . but don't know what to edit. . FH and I picked out the ring together while on vacation in SF - or the setting - I never saw it with the main diamond in it. I knew we were going to get engaged some time by the end of June or July. He wanted to take me out to the North Fork to go to wineries and a B&B but kept trying to throw me off, saying he had a list of things to do before the engagement and it might take longer. (like job things, talking to my parents etc) The night before we left, he gave me a book of Love Poems. Then we stopped for lunch at a winery and he gave me some diamond earrings. Then we got to the B & B and he had booked me a massage! Then we were getting ready for dinner and I was trying on necklaces and was like which of these do you like better? and he said show me again, so I held two up, then he came behind me and said, 'how about this one?' and it was a diamond he had made into a necklace that had been in his grandmothers ring!! I almost cried then! Then we went out to and amazing dinner and finally went to walk down by the water, and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. Then the next morning he said i have one more present - and it was a Bride's Magazine!!!

Re: Let's share proposal stories
heres mine from my website!!
It was a day like any other. Jenny had just gotten out of teaching Saturday School and went straight to Vinnies. The weather was rainy (like every other special day for Jenny and Vin) and Vinnie told Jen that he had something 'yummy' for her. This was not thought of as odd since Vinnie is always surprising her with things. So, Jenny get's to Vinnie's house and Millie seems to be acting strange. 'What did I do?' she thought to herself. She went to sit in the living room and Millie asked if they wanted anything from the store, and then was on her way out. Vinnie goes into the kitchen and brings out a Blueberry Snapple bottle. 'I got you something' he said with a big smile on his face. 'Snapple! My Favorite!'. Jenny opened the bottle... and automatically turned the cap over to read the snapple cap (like she does every time) 'Real Fact 111- Will You Marry Me' Jenny puts it down because, she thought to herself; 'Thats not a nice fact, some people may think someone is proposing to them'. And within a second, there was Vinnie on one knee. 'You're the love of my life, Will you Marry Me?' By this point, Jenny is sitting on top of the couch, completely shocked! 'Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? That's not nice if it is!' And Vinnie is smiling ear to ear, and places the ring on her finger. 'This is real'.
And... that was the next chapter of their story...

fh had a bunch too! originally he was goign to hide the box inside the ceiling (we were gutting the basement) and knows i LOVE breaking down things, so he was going to put it into an old box to make it look like its been up there forever and when I opened it the ring would have been there!
But then my asthma started with the dust so he nixed that...

I *thought* FH was going to do something similar. I had gotten him a ring for our second anniversary off ebay, and gotten completely ripped off. It looked like a gold and onyx pinky ring, but when it came it clearly was from a vending machine. Thirty bucks later, he never wore it (was too big anyways), but left the box in his car because he was too lazy to take it out. It was a gold box with a little orange bow. Well, a week or two before he proposed, it mysteriously was sitting on the backseat of his car, so I was like what's in the box??? And grabbed for it. It was empty, and he was like oh, it was just rolling around on the floor, so I picked it up. I wanted to throw it at him!!! Now, if he was clever lol...
