Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

Leonards is absolutely great for weddings - I worked there as a bridal attendant for a couple of years - so let me you tell you certain tips ARE NOT INCLUDED. Such as at the end of the night, you still have to tip out the maitre d, bridal attendant, whoever delivered your flowers and dj.

Just so you know where your money is going: The maitre d splits his tip with the guy who runs the liquor room in the back of the house and I believe he has to give a percentage to Leonards. For the bridal attendant - if you liked her, please be sure to give her her tip directly. If you hand her envelope to the maitre d, you can tell him until you're blue in the face to PLEASE give it to her, but he will not. Leonards' policy is, once the money touches the maitre d's hand, the bridal attendant will never see it. Many times people thought they were helping me by giving it to the maitre d while I got their limos, and bags together - but instead I'd be near tears knowing I worked so hard to never see that money. Be sure to ask them about every little detail.

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

You have to check with them before hand about this. Depending on how many parties they are having that night - it may be a little hard for them to guesstimate how many cars will be parking. Of course they have an additional lot directly across Northern Blvd. (which is rarely used) - but you'll be amazed how full that lot gets on weekends.

Aside from parties, the employees park there as well.

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

If you hired a band, they have to play in the room you booked. At any given time they could have 3 weddings, a Sweet 16 and a shower on the same evening. Because they try their best to make each event very special - they wouldn't be able to allow your band to play on any floor (even if you have the full floor for yourself) because the sound may inpact another party on another floor.

I'm on the main floor and my contract doesn't say anything about a paino player on the weekends and it doesn't say anything about European white glove service. WHat kind of contract did I get?? My contract is only 1 page long.

Oh man... I had no idea places did that. Thankfully, I waited until the bridal attendant was free and I gave her her own envelope.

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

The Viennesse depends on which room you're in. What room are you in?

They have all sorts of cakes (I believe about 10 different kinds), 2 types of cheesecake, an ice cream area with all sorts of toppings, assorted cookies, an italian ice cart, canole center to make your own, espresso, cappacino, dessert liquors, this is all on top of your wedding cake and coffe/tea options.

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

I just checked my contract about the cake and it says Occassion cake, but I was told I would get a 4 tier cake. Does anyone else's contract say occassion cake?

Re: Lets start a Leonards of Great Neck Thread

Ok - in the Empire Room they roll in the viennesse carts (which is pretty cool - make sure you ask them about the sparklers. Not all the time, but most times when they have viennesse rolled out they put on sparklers and dim the lights to make it a whole show for everyone). It's really nice - but especially if you have kids at your reception, don't expect to do much dancing afterwards since it's the end of the night and spillage happens. They will NEVER roll in a bucket and mop to clean up while an event is going on.

BE PREPARED - BRING SLIPPERS WITH GRIPPERS! Since the majority of their rooms have been re-done with marbelized flooring - I can't tell you how many times I'd fall on my *** - and I was wearing rubber soles. So, if you want to dance all night - then don't forget to bring your slippers! Your feet will thank you the next day!

Tell me about it - not a lot of people realize it at all. They feel like they don't want to bother you if you're gathering their things towards the end of the night. Trust me - they are there for you BOTHER THEM - interrupt them, grab them as they're running down the hall, etc. But if you're going to give the envelope to the maitre d - might as well keep it - because your $$ will just go straight to Leonards and not to your girl.

Its the one on the main floor with the coat check and the desk where the receptionist sits. I think its the smallest room they have.

Its not on the actual white paper contract where they have your price. Its in the papers that they give you along with the contract. I beleive its the one that says about Leonards. Its a general description, so dont worry everyone is going to get the white glove service and so forth.
