Letterpress Invitations...

Letterpress Invitations...

I know they are expensive, but does anyone know what is actually reasonable to pay for them? I'm trying to figure out how much I am paying for designing and creative and staff, versus how much the actual invites cost...

One invite I am looking at is $1533 for invitations and response cards...

Any advice, experience would be greatly appreciated!

That's actually a decent price for letterpress. I've looked at some for 125 that were well over $2K...that included invite, rsvp, reception card and direction card.

ETA: Just saw that it was invite and rsvp...then I guess that's pretty standard. I tried Marsville Press, a canadian company that's prices are definitely better than US. PortJeffbride used them. But they never got back to me:(

I do not think it's a bad price for 125. Is that one ink or two? Is the card pre-made? I am actually looking at about 2K (w/o the tax & shipping added yet) for 100 invites, with an extra card & the design fee is already included (design fee is about $300).

Also, e-mailed Marsville Press (Canada) but have not heard back from them. I am a little bit wary using them just because they have no contact number (company is not listed) & they wanted check/money order (if I'm not mistaken when I went on the site). They are cheaper but I am very hesitant to place an order from them even if they e-mail me back. Will see, maybe they will give contact info...

Yeah I emailed them twice two months ago and never heard a thing. I gave up..if you can't respond, that's not someone I want to do business with. I know PortJeffBride had a good experience.

Re: Letterpress Invitations...

The quote I have is for 2 color invitations. The design is already set, I am choosing one of theirs, and it includes invitations with outer and inner envelopes and response cards, only. For about 3500-4000 I can get invitations, response cards, maps, Program covers, and menus..

The company I am looking at is Bella Figura. I'm also going to check out some other companies next week at a store in Manhattan. I just love the idea of letterpress, that it has been around for so long.

Thanks for your responses!

There are a few websites that give their price lists for letterset also:

www.bellafigura.com
www.littletreepress.com
www.paper-source.com
www.greenwichletterpress.com

p.s. I fell in love w/ a letter press set that was in the Spring Martha Stewart - $3000 for a set of 100 (and you had to have a min of 100) for invite, envl, reply and envl. Too much!

I think what your are being quoted is in the normal price range from what I've seen.

You might want to consider screenprinting. There are lots of very creative artists who do this as custom and the price seems more reasonable. (but it doesn't have that nice indent that letterpress does)

Hi - I am using Spark Stationery @ www.sparkstationery.com and they are VERY affordable for letterpress. Dierdre at Spark is super nice and very willing to work with you on prices - even for 2 color invitations.

Also, since I attended the Bridal Salon event a couple of months ago, I received a coupon for free thank you cards (100) with my purchase!

So if you're still looking for Letterpressed invitations - definitely check them out! Tell them Jean sent you! :)
