L.I. bride/NJ groom - where is fair to have reception?
Original post by LauraPete
My fiance and I live in Jersey now but all my family as well as the church I should get married in is in Oyster Bay (Nassau county). All of his friends live in Jersey and his parents, Pennsylvania. I have been looking in Nassau and Suffolk county so far but should I also be considering reception sites in Jersey? What is appropriate?

Thanks for the link Kris. Sounds like everything was great. I can't wait to do our taste testing there! It better be more than 2 days before that I find out which room our Cocktail hour is in!!! I would be ****ed too. But I'm glad other than that, that everything was so wonderful.

merf, they don't do tastings at CHCC. Just an FYI. At least, they didn't last year....

Really? Maybe it's a new thing because when I asked about it in January they said they were doing tastings for their March brides. I hope they do them- I want to make sure I like everything- not that I will be eating! Where in NJ do you live again?

I'm getting married on LI. But, I've been to weddings at the Manor and Mayfair Farms. They were both very nice.
The Manor - needed a bridal attendant b/c the first hour before the cocktail hour was mayhem - we did not know where to go and noone knew anything there, not even the bartender in the restaurant or the coatcheck girl. The food was amazing - my favorite cocktail hour and venetian hour EVER! The room was so elegant, I loved it!
Mayfair Farms - I didn't like that the cocktail hour was by the front door (only complaint!) The cocktail hour food - great, dinner - best I've ever had at a wedding!! The room was beautiful with a great view, the service was exceptional - my FI asked for Guiness and they went and found it for him somewhere and came back with it!
Overall, they are both great choices! I've been averaging 7 weddings a year and these two places are on the top of my list (actually better than any LI wedding I've been to!)
