Where do you recommend? I want to try on Casablanca dresses, and possibly a Watters dress. And look at some others. I do NOT want to get pressured, or patronized, and I'd prefer not to be horrified by the prices. I don't even want to bw shown anything over $1500. (Don't want to be tempted by what I can't have.)

Anyplace closer than Baldwin? I live in Suffolk. Isn't there one in Dix Hills that posters have been talking about?
As far as David's is concerned--don't they only stock their own brand? And I've heard too many bad things about David's to risk it.

That's it, the one whose website doesn't work right. Doesn't seem to carry Casablanca though. The Wedding Center in Commack and The Bridal Suite in Bay Shore do. Anyone know if you need an appointment with them? I should call and ask what they have in stock to try on. Also, the Casablanca site says Estelle's Dressy Dresses carries them. I've driven past there many times but never gone in. Anyone try there?

Re: LI wedding dress salons? Which one(s)?
I tried on the first one at RK Bridal yesterday, and I want to try on the second. There's also a new one, I think from the Spring 07 line, that's not on the website yet but I saw it in their new ads, and it's in the new In Style Weddings in an editorial feature. It's another V-neck, with all-over embroidered and beaded tulle. It has a slightly odd dropped waist though, I'd have to try it on. Here's a link to it on a discount site:
they are both beautiful- really tough choice- sorry!!

Not sure if they carry these dresses but Burtons and RK Bridal have great prices and won't pressure you.

Definitely try it first! But that's gorgeous. Really gorgeous. I've been doing a lot of thinking this past day--I've got a bad cold so I'm not doing much of anything else!--and I've come around in my thinking. I want to go with the more traditional, heavy satin, beaded dress after all. I was thinking about lace, and I love lace, but--this is my one chance to wear a real WEDDING dress. I've got a lace dress already. It's black, but it's a lace dress. In the first Casablanca dress, I felt like such a bride, and it wasn't even long enough (I'm very tall.) Hmm. I'm going to call and see who has those to try on.
Ooh, this is so exciting! I can't believe I'm finally doing this.

I was at RK Bridal yesterday---I had to wait a bit, but I liked them, there was no pressure, they were quite helpful, and I liked being able to look closely at all the dresses while I was waiting for my turn. They're definitely no frills, but that's OK. I don't need to pay extra to have a lovely salon feel. I know some people want to be pampered, but I'd rather pay less! I tried on the first one, but I didn't see the second one until I got home, so I didn't look for it. I'll call them. I work in Manhattan and have a montly train ticket, it's easy for me to go back and forth, and RK Bridal is a quick walk from Penn Station, it's only 5.5 blocks.

I hated Estelles. They were pushy and follow you around the store like you are a thief. They even check your bags as you leave.....as if one could stuff a wedding gown in the bag. Bayshore Bridal Suite was great though. I used them a few times and never had any problems. I think you might need an appointment for wedding gowns but I am sure if you go there they will be able to help you. You might just have to wait a few minutes. Try to work with Andrea or Mary Ellen, they are sweethearts.

Re: LI wedding dress salons? Which one(s)?
Apparently no one wants to sell any bridal gowns. I just called the Wedding Center in Commack, the Bridal Suite in Bay Shore, and PR Scilla's in Huntington. NO ONE answered the damn phone. And only PR Scilla's had a voice mail! I hope they're all busy selling dresses. I'll try again, and then I'm going back to RK Bridal...

Re: LI wedding dress salons? Which one(s)?
I did manage to get through to everyone except PR Scilla, where I left a message. We'll see if they call me back. The only place that has the other Casablanca dress I want to try on is...RK Bridal, where I was yesterday. I could take another fast trip into Manhattan tomorrow. The third dress I wanted to try on isn't available yet. It's not going to be available until after I'll need to order a dress, considering my wedding is in June. I wish they wouldn't advertise them if you can't see them yet!
