Which ones would you recommend the most.. for not only very good wine.. but for decor and all other intangibles.. and for ones especially near Greenport?

Re: LI Wineries
Macari has a beautiful tasting room and deck overlooking the vinyards and very nice wines (love the desert wines!)
Paumanauk is one we like a lot - really nice people and a nice space.
Lieb is more contemporary with good wines.
Ternhaven in Greenport is not much in the way of a tasting room, but nice people when we were there, and nice wines.
Corey Creek and Bedell are also both good choices.
Can you tell we go out there a lot

YOu have to go to Pindar, Laurel Lake, Osprey Dominion (try their peach wine, my fav) and Pelligrini (take one of their flight..on the wine list)
We go at least 4-5 times over the summer

Re: LI Wineries
Osprey's is my favorite from a wine perspective so we really don't go to any others much anymore.

Go to all of them. It won't take long and is so worth it! My husband and I are addicted. We got engaged there, got married there, and visit ALL the time. Pindar is very touristy and crowded but the wine is good. I prefer the more low-key places, but it's a matter of opinion I suppose.

Re: LI Wineries
Pugleisi is one of our favorites- They have tables outside along a lake. Martha Clara has live music on the weekends and has a nice sitting area outside.
Pugliese is my fav (and not only b/c that is where I got enagaged ) but b/c the wine is great and I love sitting outside at the tables along the lake.
Osprey's is nice b/c they have a lot of land where you can picnic. Sometimes they have a band that places there too.
Try them all. You won't be disappointed.

My personal favorite is Paumanok...I LOVE their semi-dry Riesling. Nice deck and nice view of the vineyards, Macari has a gorgeous tasting room, very big....Duckwalk is nice too.

My family actually owns Macari Vineyards. If you have any questions, let me know.
It is one of the best if not the best winery on the island. Pindar and some of the others are more well known because they have been around longer. But in terms of the wine and the actually beauty of the vineyard, Macari is much nicer. You can do a search on Newsday and NY Times. They have given our wine glowing reviews.
OMG! I can't tell you how much my friends and I love Macari wine. We go there every year. And the people there are so nice. My friend went once and the owner (?) gave her free bottles of wine to take home.

Re: LI Wineries
I like Peconic Bay and Pindar the best. Raphael is beautiful also (when did they stop making wine?), we bought a very expensive bottle from them last year.
