When should I go for the marriage license if my wedding is Oct 17? Also, I know you need to bring it to the rabbi/officiant to get it signed, but what do you do with it after?

Any time after the first of September... or really you could go before. 60 days before.
Just wait til September.

you can go 60 days in advance if you want ... but i think most of us put it off a bit
your officiant signs it and sends it to the clerk's office ... you just wait for your official marriage license to come in the mail, AFAIK

60 days to 24 hours before.
Once your officiant signs it they mail it out and then you receive the certificate in the mail. Don't forget you might need it at your rehearsal! Our priest signed and took ours then!
