lied about wedding date to...

Original post by shoegal68

the shop where i bought my dress. i told them it was 3 weeks earlier to make sure i would get my dress in time. i'm sure i'm not the only bride that did this... so how do i handle this?? i want my final fitting to be about 2 weeks before the wedding because i know i will drop weight due to nerves. want them to hold there as long as possible.

do i just tell them the truth or tell them i changed the date????

i did that...i got married on 9/9/07 and told the store that i'm getting married 8/19/07 so they can order the dress and have time for alteration. You rather have the dress ready a week before than worrying when your dress is coming.

I told the truth to my place and now I am freaking. My dress was 2 months late!!! but since I ordered it so early it didnt matter, but I ordered the BM dresses late, they are coming march 10th for an April 26th wedding..... so I am freaking but I am thinking that I can tell them that I am getting pictures taken a week before......

honestly, i think 2 weeks before the wedding is even too early of a date to tell them.

if you don't want to use the real date, use the weekend before.

you're leaving a lot up to the fates with that much time padded to your date ... you could lose, you could gain, there's no real way of knowing for sure.

eta: also keep in mind that you have to find a place to store the dress for that period of time

You can play 'dumb' when they ask you when you'd like to have your first fitting...you can say something like, 'Well, since we have this three-week gap, why don't we do it.......' and when they ask why you have a gap, say, 'You know, for the extra-time between the date I gave and the real wedding' Play like that's how you THOUGHT you were supposed to book things LOL
