Most DJ companies provide uplighting. I met with a few yesterday and one charged $800, they other charged $50 per set (he said you usually need 8-10 -depending on the size of the room)

I love the look of uplighting, but FH and I decided we didn't want the extra expense... If we had the extra $ for it, we would definitely go for it.

We are considering it, since you are also a de Seversky bride - how do you think it would look in the room? We saw video of a wedding there and the room looked really dark, so we thought that would brighten it up, but I don't want to take away from the beauty of the room.
Have you seen any pics of uplighting used there?

Re: lighting up or not?
Depends on your RH I think, and the time of the wedding.
For example, we are getting married in the afternoon and our RH has a lot of floor to ceiling windows overlooking a lagoon...no uplighting necessary

Re: lighting up or not?
I am getting uplighting through our DJ (LI Sound). They gave us a great price and we will have uplighting around the whole room.

Re: lighting up or not?
We are using Glenn from Prestige Lighting. We are doing uplighting all around the room (28-30 fixtures) kinetic type (so they can change color at various points) and getting 2 setups for the band. Also, there will be a lighting specialist at our reception all night. It was totally reasonable, FM if you want the price for this type of stuff, I'll check our contract. Glenn is awesome!

What room are you having the dancing in? We are having our dancing in the greenhouse room (at least thats what I call it lol)....the one with the windows also on the celing that leads out to the patio, so we didn't think there was really any room for the uplighting as it would only be on one wall. We didnt want any sort of uplighting to take away from the beauty of the place. So - between that, and the fact that we decided to not spend the extra expense - we decided not to go through with it. If you are having the dancing in the ballroom - I think it might look nice on the dark walls of the room though...as you are right, it is dark. Maybe if you kept the uplighting colors to more neutral tones (like not pink?)...?

Yeah you definitely wouldn't need it in the atrium room. We are having everything (except CH) in the ballroom. We were considering doing amber, or a burgundy or midnight blue -def not pink!
