Thanks, Kate. Is that on LI or in the City. Is it an apartment in a house? Or an apt building. I want to be fair, you know.
Thanks, D

Re: LIPA bill
Since our home was vacant for over a year before we moved in we couldn't get balanced billing. I am going to try after our 1 year in the house date comes up in January. The A/C does jump your bill often. I would call LIPA though if something seems truly out of range. It could mean that your meter is off or something.
I think 78 degrees is very warm for my A/C. I keep it at 73, but maybe that is because I am prego. But on the occasional cooler days I do open the windows and turn the A/C off.

Re: LIPA bill
my bill isn't that much, but it does vary from month to month. We're not really home much during the day, so it does help alot. I always yell at my husband when he leaves the house with the ceiling fans running. That's just wasted electric. Always make sure your fans and AC's are off when you leave. I think someone else also mentioned, leave your lights off and your blinds open when it's a sunny day. Daylight works wonders.
