Listen to this..

Listen to this..

So my mom tells me tonight how one of my BM's (my closest friend) told her she wanted to have the BP take me out for a Bachelorette night. My mom, who hates showers (I had a small one anyway) and doesn't like people doing things for her or anyone tells my friend - no, its enough that she had the shower. My mom doesn't want her spending any more money.

I feel bad for my friend b/c I feel she wouldn't have offered anything beyond her own monetary means and she really enjoys doing that kind of stuff for people. I feel like my mom took away her pleasure in doing it. As it is my FSILs took over my shower and she played a part but not as much as she wanted. Now what?

kind of a tough situation.....how do you feel? do you want to have a bachelorette party? how i feel is that you only get married once, you should be able to celebrate with your BMs and if someone is willing to plan a bachelorette, go for it! maybe talk to your mom , tell her that it would just be a night out of fun for the girls, nothing extravagent. if its something you really want, I would talk to your mom and your friend.

Yeah, my mom is like that too. She doesn't like people to 'bother for her' and thinks that everyone else should feel the same way. If you want a bachelorette party, tell your BMs. It's your wedding, and you should celebrate the way that you want to.

I agree completely. Let your friends know how you feel - you only do this once and you should get everything you want (especially if people are already offering it). Good luck!

Exactly, why are people like this? I mean I guess I'm sort of similar, but its annoying.

sometimes my mom tries to 'play things down' b/c she (i guess) doesn't want things to look 'crazy' or 'over-board' but she doesn't do it to that extreme...

if you really want one, then either speak to your mom and tell her how you feel or speak to your friend and tell her what happened, that you thought it was so nice of her, but don't want it to be too much for her--and maybe you and her can plan it together or something, that way you don't feel like you are putting her out--even if you know for sure she would not have offered anything above her means.

good luck!! remember, what the other girls said is right--you only do this once! if you want to go out and have a nice time, you should.

Talk to your mom. Tell her things have changed since her time. If your friends are willing to do it, you should have a good time with your BMS!

Amen, Amen! When ELSE are you going to have a Bachelorette Party? I'm sure you've been to other bride's B-parties... now it's YOUR TURN!!

The shower is supposed to be a surprise, so it's hard to have 'say' in that. For the B-party, speak up, especially if it's being offered! You can say, 'I know my mom told you otherwise, but I would love to have one last hoorah as a single woman, even if it's small!' Good luck!
