They are raising the Terrorist Threat Warning from Med. to High. They said especially in Hotels & apt buildings & they are expecting something in February.

Yeah i just went to cnn.com and read the story. Like i wasn't already scared enough... i don't understand how people like this don't get what they deserve and die horrible deaths instead of killing innocent people...

After Sept 11th all our lives changed, what can we do but live the best life possible. People told me to cancel my trip to the London/Paris. I refuse b/c I do not feel safer here or in London, anything can happen anywhere. We cannot stop living our lives. Pray for our leaders, and servicemen. We all have to remain prayerful. No one is guaranteed tomorrow, we have to live each day as if its our last. I am not saying I am not worried, but the people in Israel, live in a more volatile situation than we do and their lives are not put on hold.

They have been raising and lowering the security level for the county many many times over the past year and a half. The public was just not aware. They put it on the news this time because its right after Powell's speech to the UN. I wouldn't be any more concerned than I was yesterday.

Honestly I just don't want to know anymore. Theres nothing we can do about it... so I don't want to know what level we are at... or what they MIGHT target!!! I'm sick of being scared, and the more its in the news the more scared i am.... stop reminding me!!! JMO

I know everyday/anyday an attack can happen, but hearing it on TV makes it worse.

Hubby and I do not stop on those channels anymore that brings news of terror, we skip right over them. Thank goodness for Nickelodeon and Lifetime.

The channel was on during my lunch hour in our kitchen here at work, the ladies were so interested I couldn't change it so I walked out.

and you came to share it with us...how kind of you Jen. *said in my most sarcastic tone* Remember there are some of us here who hate hearing this stuff, just as much as you, but I know, it makes you feel better to share. So share on. You should have walked faster from the kitchen I hope you all feel better. We really cannot let these events stop us from living. The person who posted above is so correct, they always rasie or lower the levels, its only b/c we are now hearing it, that it causes us such feelings of anxiety.

FI is a baggage screener at JFK and he tells me about the amazing machines they have for scanning bags and the machines they have for checked luggage and knowing that they are doing all of this makes me a little safer.
for example they have this machine that is like a cat scan for luggage. it scans the bag and then breaks it up into sections. so if you had packed, a book, another book, a gun and another book it breaks the image up into pieces and the gun would be detected instantly.
they also have this wipe thing that can detect 1, 1 billioneth of a trace of any chemical substance.
When he tells me about all these checks they do, i feel safter about who travels in and out of our country.
