living after wedding??

where is everyone going to live after they get married? apt, condo, house, other??? I haven't the slightest idea what to do. I'd hate to use all of our savings right away... ouchies and renting seems to be maybe a waste... what are you doing?

We live in a 1BR now (I moved in with FH when I got a job in Jersey) and are waiting for a 2BR to open up. I hate the idea of renting but we most definitely will not have enough $$ for a downpayment while we're saving for the wedding. I still wonder how my sister bought her house as she was paying for a wedding!

I hope we can move into a townhouse at least a year after we're married. There are so many beautiful ones in NJ! There's one only 7 minutes away from work!!! I would LOVE that!! I just have no idea where we could get the money for a downpayment- anyone know if it's any different with townhomes? What do they expect usually?

Looking into an apartment..tho we have been looking around for houses too, but dont think we will have the money for the down payment. I do agree with u girls that renting can be a waste..and I wish I didnt have to do it, but I think I will have for at least a year or so

We've been living together in an apartment for 2 years now. We close on our condo on Friday though! I can't wait to be a home owner.

We are going to stay in the Apt. we live in now for I hope a year maybe two and the try to buy a house

we are lucky, FI owns a co-op so we are staying there to save and hope to sell and put down payment on a house no more than 1 year after the wedding. Hopefully our plan will work and we can SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!!

We are living together in the co-op FH owns, however, it's a large studio, and it's really starting to feel cramped! We're hoping to sell this place and buy a bigger co-op or condo, most likely after the wedding.

We are already living together in an apartment .We will stay here until we have money for a down payment for either a house or a condo.

Right now we are renting a beautiful apartment that we have been in for 6 years! We are going to search for a house about 2 years after we are married! No rush!

We will continue to live in teh condo for 1-2 more years and then hope to purchase a house.

We're hoping to use the money we get for the wedding as a down payment on a house..but we'll keep living in our apartment for a few more months, at least.

we're staying right where we are- apt. rental.
we'll be saving up for a year or so after the wedding until we can afford to house hunt!

FH has a house so we will be staying there. Hopefully we will be able to buy out the other owners in a few years.

We wanted to buy a house but in order to do that we would have to borrow money for the down payment. So we decided to just rent an apartment for the first year or 2 so we can save money. I hate the idea of paying rent but we want to do this on our own.


This is what we're doing too. We're going to take the money we make at the wedding and tuck it away and keep saving on top of that until we have enough for a down payment.
