living after wedding??

living after wedding??

where is everyone going to live after they get married? apt, condo, house, other??? I haven't the slightest idea what to do. I'd hate to use all of our savings right away... ouchies and renting seems to be maybe a waste... what are you doing?

We wanted to buy a house but in order to do that we would have to borrow money for the down payment. So we decided to just rent an apartment for the first year or 2 so we can save money. I hate the idea of paying rent but we want to do this on our own.

that was our thinking too..

ur better off saving for a while if u dont have the downpayment. Plus it will allow you to get used to married life without having to worry about paying a mortgage!

that is what we are doing.. it is working out nicely.

We bought a house in October But I will NOT be living in it until after the wedding.. we want to have that fresh new marriage feeling ya kno?

I agree-renting stinks bc the $ goes nowhere. BUT it really is very hard to save $ for a downpayment AND have a wedding... Maybe you can look into buying a condo or co-op.. it's less $ and you'll own it...

i was thinking of a condo too... not sure... i think we have enough to put down on a house but #1 im nervous of the house stress w a new marriage that I want to be fun ... and #2 I really would be said to see my savings go bye bye so fast...

as of today we are under contract buying ahouse. we will not live there until after the wedding but it gives us time to fix it up the way we want.

We'll be doing what we're doing now chances are, renting. We may end up moving into FILs 2 family house if they decide to move to Atlanta so that we can act as landlords for the rental but other than that, we will most likely be renting.

I hear ya! I agree, it s ucks to see the $ disappear! Especially now with ING Savings rates being like 5%!!!! I think you should definatly look into buying an apartment. My cousin bought an apartment in Long Beach when she got married, it was brand new, needed no fixing. Was only an apartment, BUT they owned it, and sold it for nice $$ and now own a HOME in lynbrook! Look into it.. you still have PLENTY of time to make a decision, but definatly start the research NOW!

We already live together in an apartment- getting a new one in January and staying there until we have a downpayment.

I am sooo glad there are people that understand sooo much and are in the same boat as me... I just want something to put all of my awesome things in and DECORATE!!!!

We are living in the apartment in my grandparent's house...very cheap rent for a nice 2bedroom apartment. We hope to buy house about 3 years after we are married.

we are going to be renting while we are saving up for a house...we looked into houses, and right now we just couldn't afford both a wedding and a house.

FH and I live together now in my condo. Moving to NY next year, will rent for 1 yr. so I can make sure NY is where I want to be. Then we'll buy, using the $$ we get from the sale of my condo!
