Living Arrangements

FH and I live together in my Mom's house right now because we are saving up some money to buy a house after we are married.

I would say, if my mom did not have room and it meant living with him and paying rent for an apt, I would hold off until the wedding just to save some money. I know it is hard, but you can do it

we did everything backwards too... 2 kids and own our house. fh says hes happy its that way bc once we are done with the wedding we dont have to save or struggle- we have our home and can sit back and enjoy!! 331 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's exactly what we are gonna do, too. We'll probably start seriously looking at apartments in March.

We are def staying in suffolk!

i refused until we were engaged, i live in the same house

now , but he rents the apartment downstairs.

I live rent free until we are married (upstairs with the FMIL)

then i move in with him.

so I can't complain LOL - it's like we live together

FH and I were lving together for nearly 2 years before we got engaged. I am a BIG proponent of living together before marriage. This way you can sort of figure out each other's little idiocyncracies and really see if you can live together. There are so many couples that are great before and then move in together after the marriage and realize that they just can't stand living together! You are better off finding out before hand and canceling the wedding or postponing it so that you can work things out then waiting until afterward! Just IMHO - HTH!

ITA!~ I've been living with my fiance for 3 years, even before we were engaged and I honestly wouldnt have had it any other way. We faught ALOT when we first moved in together because we were not used to each other's little habits, etcc and it honestly helped us get closer and learn more about each other.

We're waiting despite the fact that we're always at each others places. I would love to move in together but my parents are old fashioned and strict catholics when it comes to that sort of thing and seeing as how they are paying for half of the wedding, I want to respect their wishes.

Plus am I weird to think that it's part of the experience? I'm oddly looking forward to getting married and then adjusting to 'married life' by living together...

umm is this me talking haha My life exactly! my parents are strict catholics too. I have only slept over fh house about a handful of times, and that is cause i lied as to where i was. (i'm 28 by the way)

I am also glad that I'm taking this route now, cause i believe it's all part of the experience too! Plus, I've heard that the statistics say living together or not, the rate of successful marriages are the same as ones that end in divorces, in either situation. So we'll be ok!
