Original post by KellymKuehn

I just wanted to start a thread for future brides already living with their FH. I am and I wanted a place to vent about how it affects the wedding and everyday life!

07er crashing

me and FH have been living together for 2 years now. the reason why we moved in together is because my parents moved out of state to Las Vegas and I could not afford living on my own...

we wanted to move in together anyway but if my parents still lived on LI then i would have been at home saving money

we are sinners too

FH and I won't be living together until after we're married. My mother raised a proper Catholic girl who will move from her father's house into her husband's.

If only she knew...

Sinner... and lovin' it!

FH moved into my apt. 2 years ago, and since then I pay half the rent I used to, half the utilities, AND I get to fall asleep next to him every night. Sweet deal! Plus, he does the dishes.

If we are not religious is it still considered living in sin???
My parents lived together before also.

We are not getting married in a place of worship also. so not sure if its a sin then.

We lived in an apartment first, for 2 years, it was really nice. Then I came to work at his company in october of 2005. That was pretty hard adjusting. Living and working together is rough but it has alot of benefits. We are the 3rd generation in his family to do that.

In August 2006, we bought our house. Living in the house is sooo much better, we have more space and room. And it really feels like we are a family.

I will be honest. IF we DID NOT have a house there is no way we would ever consider spending the amount of money we are on a wedding. Even if someone was paying for the wedding, we would of taken that money and saved it.

I feel really secure that we have the house now, and can plan a wedding and not have to worry where we are going to live afterwards.

I feel the same way. FI moved into my apartment in Brooklyn in August right after we got engaged. My mother god rest her soul was an Evangelist and FI' s father is a minister and I know my mommy in heavan and FI's father do not believe in living in sin. FI and I are also Christian and as children this is what we were always taught. That is why we pushed the wedding up from 09' to 08'. Now that we have bought our first home with WAY more space it is like I am learning new things about my FI despite the fact that we dated for two years prior and we will be adjusted by the time we get married. Our house is also a nest egg and I feel secure also knowing that we have a great place to stay and an investment, which makes paying for the wedding actually a little eaiser.

Living in sin...and loving it! I actually like living with him now because there will be no surprises after we're married! It's fun to have him always around

Lol exactly... I feel like we'll have a smoother transition into marriage because we'll have lived together for three years before we get married.

People always ask my mother if she minds that I'm 'shacked up.' She laughs and tells them, 'Well, you try on shoes before you buy them, right?!?' Don't mess with my mama...

HaHa its the truth! My Dad was engaged to a woman for 6 months and they decided to break it off after they moved in together and realized they couldnt stand eachother! Thank god for that, like he needed a second divorce! So I used him as an example when telling him that I was moving in with FH. Thank God for our parents Mistakes huh?

Re: Living In Sin

i brought up living together before the wedding but out of respect to my parents (very old fashioned), he didn't think it'll be a good idea. i'm living rent free with my parents until the wedding day so no worries there but still...it'll be nice to come home to fh every night or in my case every morning

I'm a 2006 bride, and when I saw ur title of the post, I thought of the Bon Jovi song, lol!
I moved in with my FI [now DH] a few months be4 the wedding and my mom was NOT crazy about the idea. We moved in together in April and got married in July. Those were an interesting 3 months. . . LOL

Its really good in a way to get to know one another, although by being engaged, you do obviously know alot about eachother. But if you've never lived with that person before, or never lived with a boyfriend/fiance, its an adjustment. And although my Dh never actually lived with any of his GF in the past, me neither with any of my BF, it was definitely a HUGE adjustment living with someone, and knowing that you're going to be living with this person for the rest of your life! But in a way, its also good, cause you get used to one another and eachother;s bad habits, ect, and you'll learn how to deal with it better. I think its easier to move in before marriage, to get a taste of what married life is like, and also because you're ALREADY making this HUGE adjustment living w/ the person, that if you do it right after marriage, to me it seems like now, not only are u living with the person, and adjusting to that, ur ajusting to married life in general too. But all in all, theres nor right or wrong.

It wasn't until I got back from my Hm, that I asked one of my friends if she was was going to move in with her fiance right away or wait til after they were married. She said she would wait, and she has her whole life to live with her DH! Which is a GREAT THING, and a traditional thing!

For me, I just HAD to get out of my parents house!

HTH!

Funny story about living in sin. Right after DH (FH at the time) and I moved in together we told his grandmother we were now living in sin. She said, 'Really, where is that?'
