Living on edge

Now that you are engaged, do you find yourself fearful of things you've never even considered before?

I'm petrified of something happening to my father. One of my main motivations of having a true wedding was that I wanted my father to walk me down the aisle. Being that the wedding is so far off, so much could happen and I don't know if I would have a large wedding if he wasn't able to walk me down the aisle. This has been something so important to him and that makes me want that moment even more for us.

I am fearful of that too - he is only 43 and now there might be something wrong with his lung and liver.

Not soo much for my family members but for FH's family members. Right after we got engaged FH's mom was diagnosed with cancer, so everyone was on edge of what was going to happen, especially FH-we couldn't even talk wedding related stuff. She is now in remission and doing well, but I kind of fear being that FH is older and his parents are a little older than my mom that something may happen and FH would be devestated that his parents weren't there, especially because he is the last to get married.

I strongly recommend having your father have these things checked out-even if he hates doctors. My father died at 49 of a massive heart attack, so i recommend any precausions that can be taken

i suddenly fear everything since the day i got this ring. i hope nothing goes wrong to anyone in either of our families before this day. (knock on wood). its sad to say that i made a list of who would be at FH & my wedding a year after we started dating & i have had to cross off so many people. (3 grandparents, a friend from high school & FFIL)
not only that but also every decision i make will effect the rest of our lives. (school, working, medical decissions) it is so hard to put into words how i feel.

YES! I worry about everything and I've always been known to think about things too much. My worst fear is that something bad will happen to someone in our famalies. I want more than anything for my Grandmother to be there on my wedding day. I also worry constantly about FH. He is an electrician and is always working on construction sites. When I hear that cranes fall and things like that, I get so nervous! You never know what could happen.. I tell him everyday to always look up and that he has to be very alert on the job. He may think I'm crazy, but I can't help it that I worry about people I care about!

It's amazing how 4 words...will you marry me....change your perception of everything. It's no longer 'i'm gonna do what i want...watch me go 90 down this road' cause you have someone else to consider.

So I worry about everything being ok until the wedding....then you hear about people dying on their wedding day.

I gotta stop. Gotta remember you can't control everything.

I've always been a natural worrier, but I do worry even more now. I hear horror stories and I just pray for the best. I've also had to cross people off my guest list who are no longer with us, and for that I've held out on even thinking about memorial candles and stuff like that. There's nothing that I can really do but keep my faith.

I'm scared about both our families in general, not just for the wedding. My grandma is 87 and has severely bad altzimers disease...starting to not remember names. I am very close to my parents and dont even know what I would do if anything happened to them. I'm a control freak too Amanda. Doesnt it drive you insane? But I need to stop worrying all the time. Its so bad for you

I try so hard not to be a control freak, but it just happens. Can't stand not knowing what's around the corner.....but I guess that would take the fun out of everything as well. I've always lived life expecting the worse and praying for the best. i need therapy lol

I am the same way...I am always worrying if my grandfather will make it till our wedding. He suffers from connective tissue cancer and he has alot of other problems i just cant talk about...I always dreamed since I was a little girl that at my wedding my grandfather and I would dance to one of his favorite italian songs, I dont know what i would do if he isnt there...he means the world to me, more than anyone can ever know.
(omg, I am now sitting at my computer at work with tears in my eyes thinking about this...not good)

I think every control freak inevitably has anxiety issues. You're not alone ladies. We should go to group therapy
