LIWeddings Question: Would I be considered 'Mean'...UPDATE on first page (first post)
Original post by ChrissynRicky
if I boycotted someone on here?
I mean like completely disregarding their posts, questions, FM's, etc?
ETA:
UPDATE:
I wrote an FM stating the following:
I think you should look at the responses you have received in regards to the '06 Board Thread titled NWR: 9/11
What you said was completely rude, uncalled for, and the most disrespectful things I've ever heard in my life.

I don't know what offended you so much about that thread? Mind you many people feel the propganda regarding 9/11 has gone out of control. People are making a profit off of a tragicity that devistated so many, including myself! That is what i got from that thread. If someone wants to boycot me, go for it!
The insensitivity towards this issue completely baffles me... Who are these many people that feel the progaganda has gotten out of control? I haven't met or heard of one!
Just because of this comment alone, Chris... I am boycotting with you!
EVERYTIME YOU TURN ON THE TV THERE IS NOTHING BUT MOVIES AND ADDS ABOUT 9/11! EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE MONTHS NON STOP ADDS FOR THE PROPGANDA! I CAN'T STAND IT, I STOPED WATCHING TV FOR IT. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN HONEST WITH ALL OF YOU! iF YOU TAKE WHAT I SAY THE WRONG WAY THEN THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM AND NOT MINE. ENJOY BOYCOT. I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN DEAL WITH THIS!

Hold up here....
I understand both points....
What EmberLynn was saying was that people in the beginning right after 9/11 were trying to profit from the attacks and that it disgusted her. Surely you guys remember how many people claimed they lost jobs or were affected just to get a free check? People who claimed they were collecting money for survivors and kept it for themselves? And people who were trying to sell off pieces as memorabilia? Or the complaints of all the vendors hanging out by ground zero who had pictures of people falling from the windows? That is what I believe she meant.
Christine, I agree Bonnie could have worded it differently to get her point across. I also agree that the comment might have upset those affected (which in essence was all of us). I can see how someone would take offense. A simple 'it was a horrible tragedy, and even more horrible that some people chose to try to profit from it' might have been a better way to describe it. However, her comment was not made about anyone in general, more at the disgust of those who saw an opportunity instead of a tragedy and ran with it.
Does anyone get what I'm saying?
I'm not taking sides, because I can understand both sides of this argument.

I forgive me after seeing endless adds for 9/11 propaganda where greedy people make HUGE MONEY OFF other peoples tradgties.! I stand by what I said. If you wanna buy off other people mistery then... just enjoy making some greedy $(%*@ rich!
Please buy a dictionary! In order to be taken seriously and come accross as an 'intelligent' person, please learn how to spell. Also, 'tragicity' is not a word.
When people post their opinions as fact such as you did here: 'I forgive me after seeing endless adds for 9/11 propaganda where greedy people make HUGE MONEY OFF other peoples tradgties.!' cold, hard facts should be used t back that up. Because otherwise it's an opinion - not a fact... and when you write this: 'If you wanna buy off other people mistery then... just enjoy making some greedy $(%*@ rich!' you should also have facts...who is this 'greedy' person that 'we're' buying into and making rich.
Gross generalizations are what have lead our society into terrible tragedies. Think before you write...it's hard, I know, but it helps.

THIS expresses your feelings about it A LOT better than your original post, wouldn't you say? so many people did NOT get those things from what you posted.

Really, now I am intrigued....I haven't seen one thing about 9/11 on TV that I would call propaganda...I think for the MOST part the day, much like d-day and Pearl Harbor, is treated as it should be, with reverence and respect. if you have issue with the 'greedy $' take it up with them...it has NOTHING to do with people that lost loved ones....and should NEVER be confused or compared.
face it, you were wrong and now, when you should be taking a step back and owning up to it- you want to 'take on the world' of LI weddings.
I posted a few times on this thread trying to give you the benefit of the doubt b/c I know sometimes anyone can say things without thinking....I take the benefit back. you obviously are not deserving of it at this point.

I do get what you're saying...and I think that Bonnie clarified her argument here, that it's sick that some people are trying to profit from such a tragedy. But that wasn't the message that came across in the 9/11 post.
ETA: I dont' think that is the norm, though. I think that the tv shows and movies are for a memorial of what happened. I am sure some people are trying to profit (and that is horrible), but not that many.

I don't think you can understand both sides when the other person hasn't explained what she meant. It's nice of you to try and guess what she meant...but I think it goes deeper than the street vendors and people saying they were injured. The 'propganda' (also not a word) is what we would all like to hear about. It's not up to you to clear out the air J...but you rock for trying!

Ok no kumbaya. How about 'The hills are alive with the sound of music' or
Doe, a deer, a female deer. Ray, a drop of golden sun. Me, a name I call myself. Far, a long, long way to run. Sew, a needle pulling thread, La, a note to follow sew, Tea, a drink with jam and bread! That will bring us back to do oh-oh-oh!

RESPONSE
From: EmberLynn To: ChristineAE Re: Your Post
How you took it was rude and irresponible! I'm intitled to my opinon about all the damn money being made off of my friends and 343 other FF and thousands of people deaths and countless many more suffering! You can take your thread and put it where the sun doesn't sun! Anyone could have FM and I would even deleted what I said by request, but what you did was uncalled for!

I do understand what you are saying... but the original comment was made about shows being aired in the present tense, not when it first happened. I don't understand who is making money if they were just airing specials on tv this past week...

Ok, I am sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong. Bonnie, this response was uncalled for. Christine wrote you in a respectful way and you were rude. Many people are offended by your post and not once have you tried to calmly explain yourself. We have been a 'family' long before you joined LIW and have treated each other with respect. I understand you feel the way you do, but to disrespect so many is uncalled for. This is a public forum and we cannot stop you from posting (although Ron can). You don't realize it but some of your posts come off rude and insensitive. Maybe you don't realize it, but they do.
Christine- if someone is going to respond like that after you tried to be civil, then forget it. It's not worth it.
