LIWeddings Question: Would I be considered 'Mean'...UPDATE on first page (first post)

Original post by ChrissynRicky

if I boycotted someone on here?

I mean like completely disregarding their posts, questions, FM's, etc?

ETA:

UPDATE:

I wrote an FM stating the following:

I think you should look at the responses you have received in regards to the '06 Board Thread titled NWR: 9/11

What you said was completely rude, uncalled for, and the most disrespectful things I've ever heard in my life.

Hold up here....

I understand both points....

What EmberLynn was saying was that people in the beginning right after 9/11 were trying to profit from the attacks and that it disgusted her. Surely you guys remember how many people claimed they lost jobs or were affected just to get a free check? People who claimed they were collecting money for survivors and kept it for themselves? And people who were trying to sell off pieces as memorabilia? Or the complaints of all the vendors hanging out by ground zero who had pictures of people falling from the windows? That is what I believe she meant.

Christine, I agree Bonnie could have worded it differently to get her point across. I also agree that the comment might have upset those affected (which in essence was all of us). I can see how someone would take offense. A simple 'it was a horrible tragedy, and even more horrible that some people chose to try to profit from it' might have been a better way to describe it. However, her comment was not made about anyone in general, more at the disgust of those who saw an opportunity instead of a tragedy and ran with it.

Does anyone get what I'm saying?

I'm not taking sides, because I can understand both sides of this argument.

I do understand what you are saying... but the original comment was made about shows being aired in the present tense, not when it first happened. I don't understand who is making money if they were just airing specials on tv this past week...

EVERY show you that is made is bring in millions of dollars replaying someone suffereing! I don't agree with making
TV shows and movies about my friend or anyone else for pure profit. NEVER once did I see a movie that all profits went to the 9/11 fund! I see people make huge money off the movies, the t-shits, the flags, the stickers, etc... It makes e sick the we remember those lost by fatting the wallets of greedy.... I'm not explaining any more. I made my comment in agreement that those movies and the money was out of control and insane. I am NOT sorry FOR THAT!

YOU JUST DON'T GET IT, DO YOU. NO ONE IS ASKING OR EXPECTING YOU TO APOLOGIZE FOR THINKING THE WAY YOU DO, WE EXPECT YOU TO APOLOGIZE FOR EXPRESSING IT THE WAY YOU DID.

WE ALL MAY NOT ALWAYS AGREE ON SOME OF YOUR CHOICES, BUT WE HAVE TRIED TO BE OPEN AND RESPECTFUL

YOU CANNOT GET RESPECT IF YOU DON'T GIVE IT!

I don't think you have all of your facts straight about the shows. Some of the shows were simply about the buildings and how they were constructed. Never once did I see a show that was in poor taste. Many shows depicted the families and the suffering they went to. And for your information, I have a show on tape at home from Channel 13 (PBS) where all of the proceeds were donated to the 9/11 fund.

You're wrong. Some shows are sponsored by major corporations, the pay out of thier pocket, they don't accept advertising so that there is no profit.

A lot of these programs have actors that volunteer their time, like Keifer Sutherland, to narrate, benefit something that affected them too.

Yes, I'm sure there are some things out there that may try to profit but for the most part, the entire country, especially NYers are still mourning, and not everyone is looking for a profit.

Thank you. What I was trying to say is that not everyone has their wallet open... Some shows are purely for remembrance or for historical information. If you watch the History channel or others with similar programming, you will find that they air these shows for informative and historical reasons (and not just about 9/11, but other events such as Pearl Harbor, WWII, etc..)

What? ' You can take your thread and put it where the sun doesn't sun!' isn't gramatically correct?

And no, what YOU did was uncalled for...no one should ever expect their opinion to be superior to others...the fact that you can't admit that your comments offended says a lot about character.

You wouldn't be mean, but making a post about makes people wonder!

It's not you...and no one posting here!

LOL...I guess I should rephrase the question, would it be mean if I told this person off on the boards - probably right? It's better to keep this as 'sane' as possible, and not cause any drama!

But I would think she pretty much got that message from all the posts responding to her obnoxious post on that thread anyway...which were totally justified by the way...
