Local Flower Shops

Local Flower Shops

I see that a lot of people go to the big wedding flower places (Pedestals, Flowers by Michelle, etc.). What has been people's experiences with local flower shops...are they cheaper or more expensive? Do they do a good job? More personalized attention?

Has anyone heard of or ever used Lee Anne's Mastic Flower Shoppe? I may have a connection through a family member.

im using Cress Florist in Little Neck, i love working with the owner, Tom
simply amazing...my centerpiece was just as breathtaking as those big florist are...
i chose a smaller known florist only because i need A LOT of centerpieces, im having a large wedding and have over 32+ tables

and the price was right within my budget

wow - 32 tables!
I figured I would check out some of the popular flower places and then also check out that shop that my Aunt knows the owner. it doesn't hurt.

I'm using Flowers on Broadway in Rocky Point - the owner is a friend of my sister and she did her wedding flowers and flowers for my neice's Christening. They do beautiful work and they're reasonably priced too.

I picked two biggies to check with (burtons, flower michele) and then I wanted to pick a local florist to do compairisions. I originally wanted all local vendors to support my town since I love my town. Well i got two centerpieces made up for st. pats just to check them out told the florists what i was up to and they both looked icky and died the next day. So needless to say i am booking with neither one (the first two local florists - needed to specify that). I am checking out this other local florist that EVERYONE has recommended to me who are in the business. I am making my appointment next week so we will see how it goes.

Just wondering, because I know what area you are from (from your hair salon question) what local florists you checked out. You can FM me if you would rather...

I grew up in Mastic and my family used Lee Anne's alot. They do a really great job and are very nice. We got all of the flowers for my aunt's funeral there last month and they did a beautiful job.

I'm probably using Moriches Main St Florist because they're only a block from my hall and gave me a great price. I have a very small flower budget and I don't think one of the big name places would have been able to meet it.
