Re: Long Island Wineries

hotels are scarce... it's a lot of b&b's. oh im talking about the north fork bc that's what i know best. most places are open for tastings on weekends (unless they're having an event like a wedding) for most of the day. you just walk in! i'd def. hit pindar and raphael (if nothing else, for the scenery - i wanted to get married there).

my parents house is in cutchogue and i think they might be doing an open house on saturday (since clearly my parents will NOT be there ) if you're in the market for a summer home!

Pecnoic Bay is my absolute fav!!! Others I like are:
Bedell
Wolfer
Macari
Pindar

If you are going w/ a group most of them require you to make a reservation and if you go w/ a limo/bus you must let them know ahead of time (for parking reasons)

Definitely no hotels, more B&B's or beach motels. Some of the b&b's are absolutely beautiful. Your best bet is to stay in a hotel in Riverhead, then take your car along the North Road to hit all the wineries. Martha Clara, Pindar, Duck Walk, Laurel Hill, are a few. There are just a ton. Some charge, some are free. Actually I think Jason's Vineyard is new and supposedly beautiful. You definitely want to hit Greenport, its a really cute town. Claudio's is there and probably one of the best restaurants on the north fork. The outlets are in Riverhead, if you want some shopping. There is also a small aquarium in Riverhead.

Ilive close so go often here are my fav's!

Peconic Bay! MY FAV BY FAR!!! They always have live music on the weekends too
Raphael
Osprey's Dominion
Roanoke.. not as popular but they are open late I think until 9pm and they have a fire pit outside it's real nice
Also.... Dileberto is really awsome you feel like you are at an italian Piazza
FH and I took our epics at Pellegrini they have great wines and are really pretty too

There are a lot of B&B's not so many hotels. These are all on the North Fork there aren't many on the South. You can do tastings at all of these and canshare a tasting if someone is driving to cut down on the alcohol. Have fun!

i hated vineyard 48 too! when i was there people were so wasted, they started a congo line in the tasting room. not exactly the ambiance i was looking for.

i love wolffer and rapheal. was there a few weeks ago for a bach party. we stayed at the quintessentials B&B in east marion and it was great. breakfast was amazing.

I could not second this with a MORE wholehearted YES!!!!

Duck Walk has the BEST desert wines. DONT pass up the boysenberry or bluberry port.

Dont miss the white wine...

MUST go to Duck Walk....

Pindar has the most amazing Reisling!

Pindar is fun because they have a nice tasting room and patio, and they often have live music on Sundays. Good place to sit. Wolffer is also nice. Castello Borghese has the best wines out there, IMO.

Re: Long Island Wineries

I just realized that its probably going to rain tomorrow. Does that make the wineries scuk majorly?

Re: Long Island Wineries

It certainly makes them less crowded!!! So many are beautiful inside and out so if this is your only opportunity to go, I wouldn't cancel...

When we went, we stayed in Greenport at the Harbor Front Inn. It was SOOO NICE! Loved it. There are a lot of Bed and Breakfasts over there.

You can go to any you want. There is a whole strip of them on two main streets. You can get a map.

Pindar is good. Peconic Bay...Duck Walk...so many

You pay for a tasting and sometimes you can do a tour.

It's sooo fun!!! And you get sooo drunk from the tastings hahah

Peconic Bay has live music...You can have a picnic.

I might have been one of those people as it was the 3rd stop on our limo tour. LMAO

I LOVE Martha Clara but we are wine club members at Pindar. Macari is very small, but their early vine Chardonnay is delish!!

Ladies...we should get a BUS and do the tour!!

you can't hang outside when its raining obviously, but pindar's tasting room is big, martha clara has a huge rooms with tables wher you can hang out, Laurel lake has indoor seating also.

We stayed inside last wknd for my bach party half the time and still had a blast.
