Looking for a new puppy to love

I am looking for a new puppy. I do not like puppy stores that charge so much money for dogs. When there are shelters with good animals that need good homes. Does any body know of pet shelters that would just take a donation for what you can give for a puppy or young dog.

Where do you live? There is a shelter in every municipal town in LI, and a whole bunch in the boroughs. Also, petfinder.org is a great place to start. to find shelters.

AWW..there are TONS of shelters out there, check with your town shelters as well as private ones. A good place to start looking is petfinders.com.

I think it's great you want to help a dog in need, i know how hard it can be after losing a dog you loved so much

it so hard but the two of us have so much love to give and we miss our rocky so much

We got our guy from the Brookhaven Shelter in Yaphank. The staff there is not that helpful and the clinic actually botched his neutering but they're trying to do a good thing for a lot of dogs and cats that need a 2nd chance. Our dog is the best and we are always trying to convince our friends they should adopt a dog who needs a home rather than buy a dog that is sure to be sold into one.

I would think your municipal shelter would be a good place to start.

There's also Little Shelter in Huntington and North Shore Animal League.

Here in Brooklyn we have several too.
