Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
I don't know anything about it, but they have called me a bunch of times leaving really annoying messages. I think they offer packages where you can get EVERYTHING, dj, photo, video, etc.

The Wedding Center is different, Wedding World is in the Hauppague Industrial Park, but technically still commack. There is also another bridal store in the industrial park called Helen's Private Bridals, or something like that.

No I thought it was wedding center too, but it is Wedding World. I heard by someone that they are great. I was wondering what you girls thought.

Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
Ok, I went to Wedding world in the industrial park in Hauppauge. Now I know which one you're talking about. They have nice packages but for some strange reason I found the associates to be a little strange in there. They weren't helpful.
When I went into the section where they had bridal gowns the associate was rude to me when I asked her where the gowns with sleeves were. Her response was, 'Why do you want a dress with sleeves, those are so old fashioned.'
Needless to say, I didn't go back to the bridal gown section so I guess that experience turned me off with the other sections.

Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
I didn't purchase anything from Wedding World, but I did go there to check it out. Wedding World is the part where you can get the packages with flowers, limos, invites, etc...Helen's Bridal is the part where they have the wedding gowns, MOB dresses & BM dresses. They are two separate entities, but in the same building. (When I asked one of the Wedding World assocates about alterations and some questions about shoes and stuff, they told me I had to speak with someone in Helen's Bridal, b/c they handle that).

Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
OK.... wedding world is a chain, right? The Wedding World down here in Maryland closed up shop a few months ago - leaving many brides without there dresses. It was on the news down here for awhile. I would do a BBB search on them before committing to them to make sure there are no financial problems.Amy

Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
I found an article online.... It appears it is a chain.... This was on the WBAL website (TV news in Maryland)Wedding World Reopens To Liquidate
Brides-To-Be With Unfilled Orders Can Still File Complaints
POSTED: 8:07 am EDT October 29, 2004
UPDATED: 5:33 pm EDT October 29, 2004
TIMONIUM, Md. -- Dozens of wedding dresses line the walls at Kaufman's Wedding World in Timonium.
Brides-to-be ordered the dresses and even put down deposits -- but never got the gowns of their dreams. That's because Kaufman's Wedding World filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last month, WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Crissandra Spencer reported.

Crissandra Spencer Reports: Brides-To-Be Search Remaining Stock For Discounted Dresses
The stores are holding a bankruptcy sale this week to help the company pay their creditors and their former employees.
However, the brides-to-be will likely not be able to get the same dress they ordered or put deposits on.
'They could no longer pay us. We were in three weeks arrears in checks as it was, and we were told, basically, to lock up the stores and good luck,' said Shirley Tubbergen, the manager of the Timonium location.
About 25,000 dresses have been distributed among 16 Wedding World locations, including stores in Timonium and Glen Burnie. Brides-to-be can get drastically-discounted merchandise -- everything from a dress, to a tiara, to shoes.
There are even products for the bridesmaids and maids of honor -- all at rock bottom prices, Spencer said.
'I know they're over 70 percent off, so you can get a $1,000, a $2,000 dress for $100 or $200,' said Kimberly Tayman, a customer. 'It means more money for the honeymoon and the reception!'
But the news is not as good for those who made the original orders. They were given three days to pick up their garments last month. But those who didn't pick up their orders will not get refunds. But they can get an additional 50 percent off during the current sale, if they have their receipts, Spencer said.
'I think it must have been devastating for them, especially if they had fall wedding,' Tayman said.
Organizers of the liquidation said everything must go, so the dresses will remain on sale for at least the next three weeks, Spencer reported.
Money raised from the sale of $10 million worth of merchandise will go to a U.S. Bankruptcy Court trustee who will distribute the funds to creditors.
The chain has three stores in Maryland -- in Frederick, Glen Burnie and Timonium.
To file a complaint, you will need to download a U.S. Bankruptcy Court: Proof Of Claim Form For Pittsburgh Cases (B10 Form) [PDF file].

Re: Looking for Feedback about Wedding World in Commack
I'm using Wedding World for my DJ and limos, so far they have been great and there prices are very reasonable. I also just ordered my bridesmaids dresses from Helens which is inside the building and the saleswoman was very helpful.Welcome New Vendors
