Looking for Location Help - Chateau Briand or Giorgio's
Hello,
I'm a new bride to be and I think I've narrowed my reception down to two choices - Chateau Briand and Giorgio's at Fox Hill. Any brides out there have a wedding at either place or anyone have an opinion on the two? Both my fiance and I are torn between the two since they are SO different. One big concern to us is hotels. We are having 200-225 guests and more than half will be traveling & needing a hotel. Any bad or good hotel experiences for these two places would be appreciated too! I'm looking to book ASAP for Labor Day Sunday of '06, I thought i was early but apparently not!

Omg i was also torn between giorgios and my final choice fox hollow. omg i know what you are feeling and the only reason we did not go with giorgios is because of distance. But it was my first choice. i love it there. but i love the FH too. good luck!!!! also you may want to consider the traffic on labor day weekend going out east?????

Hey, welcome!
I had my wedding at the Chateau Briand last month - it was GREAT! I'll probably be posting my review in the next few days or so.
My guests stayed at the Wingate Inn in Garden City, as did we. It was great, we had a lovely experience. Only a few, very minor problems, which I can tell you in an FM, that were fixed quickly anyway.
Hope that helps!

Re: Looking for Location Help - Chateau Briand or Giorgio's
Hi,
I got married at Giorgio's Memorial Day weekend this year.
I LOVE Giorgio's, it is soooo elegant and beautiful. Everyone there is so nice and helpful. Not to mention the food -Delicious!!
My guests and my husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Brookhaven. I got ready there and had my pictures taken there.
I had no problems there except they could not guarantee me an early room to get ready in. A little problem with a shuttle bus, but got that handled. Otherwise the stay there was great, the rooms are clean and you get complimentary breakfast.
Re: Looking for Location Help - Chateau Briand or Giorgio's
Thanks for the reply's so far. I just found this site last week and what a great resource it is!
Jola - Thanks for the easy access to your review. I had read your review before and it was one of the reasons I visited Giorgio's. I love that it has both beach, golf & garden picture capabilities. We met with George Jr. and he was so accomodating, even though he was busy setting up for a wedding. I was very impressed with both him and the facility.
PrincessRose - I will eagerly await your review. The place is amazing and I like the fact that if it rains there are ample amount of places to take pictures inside. One question - did you do your cermony there? If so...could you hear the cars from the garden?
PrincessConsuela - Traffic, great point! Most of our guests will be traveling from Boston. We saw Fox Hollow as well, was traffic the only or major reason you decided against Giorgio's.

Giorgio's is unbelievable from the quality of food to diverse food choices to grounds (rolling hills and huge dense trees in background which can be seen from c-tail hour and reception rooms). Hampton Inn, Ramada, East Wind, tons of little B&B's within 30 minutes of Giorgio's. If people want to stay the weekend the B&B's are a great choice and they can do the outlets or wineries the next day kind of thing. Haven't been to C.Briand, only have read the reviews here. The food at Giorgio's (was there 2 months ago) is tops. You should try the food at each place to compare. Maybe go to a showcase at each. That holiday weekend - if everyone is from Long Island it shouldn't be too bad. But if you have people coming from NYC, NJ, CT, etc. then it could be a hastle. Giorgio's has the beach to so if you're into that - the pics come out really nice.

Not really traffic more like it is a friday night in feb and if it snow or is icy it will take longer for people to get there and older people may decide not to come, we would probably get more noshows. but it just came down to the fact that it was too far. otherwise we wouldve booked with them right away. they were the best. hmmmm you are making me rethink myself again. geeze just kidding i am so excited on our choice the fh gave us the most for our money and they threw in the bridal sweet in the inn next door. you can never go wrong with a scotto bro facility.

We had an indoor ceremony at the CB - DH has ADHD, and if a bug had flown past him during the ceremony, it would've been ALL OVER! The Ceremony was really beautiful though, and I loved that I didn't have to worry about ceremony flowers - the hall took care of that for me.
I don't know about many other places, because in True Rachel Fashion, I looked at CB, fell in love, half-heartedly looked at other, much less desirable places, and then decided to book with CB. (Just like my choice for college - and I ended up meeting DH there!) BUT I can say that the CB was great to work with. When a certain vendor was VERY LATE the day of the wedding and caused everything to run late, CB extended my party at no extra charge, which I was very grateful for.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Girogio's. It is so beautiful and elegant and when I walked into the room, I knew I could picture myself with Michael on that dance floor. I got such a good feeling. The food is fabulous!
Good Luck with your choice! Go Giorgio's!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I say go with Giorgio's - hands down!!! I was just there for a wedding on Sept 17th and it blows Chateau Briand away. My girlfriend got married at CB & had many complaints.
As for hotel accomodations (for Giorgio's), they blocked off rooms at the Hampton Inn in Farmingville (exit 63 off LIE). They also offered a free shuttle bus to & from Giorgio's. It was great!!!
Good Luck!!

I have been to a wedding at Chateau Briand this past May, FH's brother's. I had a GREAT time. Ceremony was there, it was outside, very beautiful. Many guests (not us) stayed at the Holiday Inn (right next door) the night of the wedding. I had her shower there too. I plan on booking rooms there for FH and out OOT guests. FM if you want more info on Chateau Briand wedding or to see pics!
Never been to Giorgio's, but have heard many good things.

P.S. you're not too early, I am 06-29-06

Before I made my decision, I spoke to a billion people about CB and noone had anything but great things to say about them, their service and their food! Good Luck!

Re: Looking for Location Help - Chateau Briand or Giorgio's
I am getting married at Chateau Briand in a little over 1 month...I have only heard good things about it, and I was very impressed when I went there and found out not only have all the new rugs been layed, but the bathrooms upstairs have just been done over as well. I do not know anything about Giorgios. As for hotels, we are using the Holiday Inn next door. We have a ton of out of town guests most from boston as well, so that was important to me that there was a hotel next door. So far we have about 50 rooms booked there. The people at the holiday inn have been very accomadating to me so far.

Just a thought ... people travelling from Boston (who are driving) can take the ferry to Orient Point ...

I'm still so torn. So far I decided if I could move Chateau Briand to Giorgio's site I would be the happiest bride alive.
Any opinions??

Re: Looking for Location Help - Chateau Briand or Giorgio's
We used CB for our reception last year and people still tell us it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. The staff was very accomodating, they answered every single minute question I had from the start, never took more than 15-20 mins to call me back, the food was phenomnial, service impeccable. I really felt like I had my dream wedding and couldnt ask for more
