I always look at craigslist.org when looking for a job. You can also start calling businesses in your area and ask if they are hiring, you never know. Make sure you have a resume and cover letter prepared because many times they will tell you to fax them a resume.

To piggyback on JohnnyandGia's advice, I would also jazz up your resume as much as possible. Your resume is their first picture of you as a possible job candidate and you want it to look as good as possible...look on careerbuilder.com and monster.com at the resumes they post and compare yours to those. Also...when you send a cover letter, address it to someone specific and not to 'Dear Sir/Madam' etc. and mention something specific about their company to show that you have taken the time to research the company. They like that personal touch When you do get interviews, send a follow-up thank you letter too. I am not in the business world but I sent a thank you letter after an interview (where I didn't get the job) and I got a position that way when one opened up that was more in line with my experience. I am still in this position to this very day!

Best of luck on your job search! I've been definatley been there!! Another good place to look at is, job specific or temp-perm job agencies... given today's economy a lot of jobs are hiring temps in order to recruit and hire the best talent and later offering permanent positions. A head hunter is also another good vehicle but a temp agencie is a safe place to have something in the meantime while your searching as well.
I have a similar background to you - given your job history you could most certainly look into the advertising industry (events/public relations/marketing/advertising/coomunications/media etc. - you could probably work on the account side of things or production. You seem to have somewhat of a diverse portfolio so you could also try looking into the corporate side of retailers and or corporate healthcare such as PR office in a hospital or company such as like emblem health. Another good place to look into is financial companies - marketing & communications departements. If you have any questions feel free to fm me Keep us posted!

Just my $.02
Last year we addressed resumes and how we look at them at a business networking group. A vast majority of business people (including myself) stated that because there are so many resumes we are looking for ones that stand out from the crowd. The best way to do this is your cover letter. Alway always send a cover letter! It should be personalized to the company/person you are sending your resume to. Do what you can to find the person's name that your resume is going to. Sending it to just the human resources department will place your resume in the pile! Send it over night to the person in charge! Remember the only purpose your resume and cover letter have is to get you the interview! That's it!
All The Best!
