lost luggage, getting worried

well one problem we had was coming back home, dh didnt get one of his luggages. Of course it was the one he would be most pissed about, the other one he wouldnt have been as upset. Ive called everyday and they STILL haven't located it, we got back monday night and they say it usually takes 24-48 hours to locate it but still no news. I even went back to the airport to look through their unclaimed luggages and nothing. I explained to the lady that with the fact that we had a flight from nice to madrid, then a connecting flight from madrid to NY, PLUS when we left madrid there were 2 flights leaving for NY with the same airline, infact we boarded at the same time as the other flight and they were one next to another so guess with all that somehow it got lost.

Its the one suitcase he had with all his suits, he brought alot on the HM, all his button down shirts, blazers, expensive shoes.

One time this happened to me and i received it after 4 days, but if i remember correctly they had located it before. MIL asked one guy we saw getting his luggage and asked how long it took and he said 5 days so im trying to stay hopeful

did anyone have an experience of a lost luggage and NEVER got it back, or if you got it back how long did it take. It S*CKS bc theres a possibility of 3 countries it can be in, what if somebody picked it up by accident or who knows.

Re: lost luggage, getting worried

Hate to tell you this ... but my sister went to FL a few years ago and they lost her luggage and she never got it back

I am sooooo afraid of this happening to me that I try to take only carry ons whenever I can. Unfortunately, for my honeymoon I cannot do this, so I will have to just it doesn't get lost.

Hope DH's is found!

Ugghh, no. I always worry about that, but luckily have never had it happen. I'll say a prayer to St. Anthony for you. It probably takes time, especially with flights from Europe.

Wow, sorry to hear that but, keep on calling the airline bc in the least they should have located it within 3-4 days. The most I have heard of was my mom and her's got lost for 5 days as it stayed international. Once your DH's luggage was checked it is the responsibility of the airline to track it and ensure a safe delivery so remind them over and over and over as they can be real a-holes with that.

I wouldn't start panicking yet. Just give them some time. They always give you a standard of how long it takes but it could take longer. I lost my luggage on time also on an interntational flight and it took them 2 days to locate it.

Don't panic yet. Keep calling them though!!

Hi Denise!!! Debi recently had her suitcase go to Cancun, instead of back to Phila. Airport, with her. It took seveal days to track it down, because there was no tag put on it at the airport. Search me on how a suitcase with no tag, went to Cancun. But it did take several days, and it was delivered to Debi's door!! Hope your's comes soon!! Mary MOB

im afraid that the tag mightve come off. On our way to monaco the handle was broken but DH fixed it in the hotel, im afraid it happened again on our way home and that the tags came off probably. It was a big garment bag so i thought it would be easier to find rather than a typical black suitcase but nope. He stuffed that thing so much too and put most of his clothes in there of course but thanks makes me hopeful they'll find it

Oh god that stinks!! I hope he gets it back!!!
my aunt and her family were going to Florida one time and they fly stand by cus her husband is a pilot and they got bumped and the airline had already laoded their luggage. They were supposed to get it back and never did. She went through so much trying to get it and the airline totally lost it. And this was domestic. but I have heard about people getting their stuff back like a week later, so you never know!! How much will the airline give you if it doesn't turn up?

Re: lost luggage, getting worried

Denise this happened to me, my brother and Sil last summer when we came back from Italy.

The Alitalia workers in Rome were being pricks and instead of going on strike they were fing around with the passenger's belongings. From a flight of over 200 passengers only about 20 bags made it on our flight. This went on for about 3 weeks! there were tons and tons of bags outside the Alitalia office in JFK.

I finally had my 2 luggages delievered to me after 2 days at like 2am. My brother and sil got 1 bag after a few days as well and 1 bag made it's way to Canada...don't know how...and finally after 1 week they got it back. They opened their luggage and took out all the espresso coffee they bought and a few perfumes that my sil bought.

I hope this doesn't happen with Joe's bag. It really ***** and totally understand the frustration! Not sure if this is happening with your airline but they wouldn't even pick up the phone when we tried to call and find out info on our bags!

Good luck and I hope his bag makes it's way back home....UNOPEN!!!!!!!!!!

i was just reading up on the laws for it and they say for international flights most give you $1k, they say you can take it to court and fight it if you have good reason why they should give you more. Most of the stuff were new too, he bought most of it just for the HM, a few older things but stuff like the suit he wore for the e-party which he wore just twice. Some stuff were brand new and never worn. Im going to hope he gets it back though

Believe me I know how upsetting it is!!!! Deb told them her suitcase could be identified by looking inside, where she had a pile of papers from her work conference with her name on. Mary MOB
