how can you tell if an LV bag is authentic? obviously some just LOOK fake... but i purchased one online and it was described as being 'authentic'.... but i have my doubts.... i only paid about $250 for it. (it retails for like $1400+)... is $250 too much for a knock off? (even though i'm HOPING its not!.. otherwise it was falsely advertised)

imo - the only way to get the genuine lv bag, or coach or whatever - is to go to the lv store. there you are guaranteed an authentic bag.

yeah i know. i went and it was $1400 (for the small version, i needed large) and i figured i'd look online. I'm sure it is probably a knock off but i will be sure to leave her negative feedback.

I hate to say that I think it must be fake for that price. I have seen knock-offs for around that price but they were very large bags . . .

I'd have to say it was fake too. I went to a pocketbook party and a large LV was $80. The cheapest 'real' LV, decent size bag, I have seen on thei website was $700. I can't trust E-Bay with expensive bags.

IMO, $250 is not bad for a knock off of a $1400 bag if it's a GOOD knock-off. I have a friend who got one for $40 on Canal St. and it looked really authentic. (It was a tiny bag). Then again, I don't know a lot about LV and could not spot an authentic one. But this one looked really nice. I think my friend ended up taking it to an LV store where they told her it was fake.

as long as it looks okay thats fine... i'm just alittle p'od b/c i wouldve spent alittle more money for an authentic. im looking now to see that some for $300-400 come with Certificates of Authenticity.

If the straps get dark over tiem then it is probably real. The thing is that nowadays, there are so many fakes that even if you DID have a real one, everyone would assume it was fake.

Yes.. that is true.. but LV will only sell their bags when they aren't dark yet.. my FSIL is a managaer at LV and this is one of the weird facts that she told me.. even if the normal person can't see the darkness, the stores can't sell it

thats why i won't buy a l purse from LV... but i have NEVER EVER EVER seen the dog carrier as a fake. (And i am always in SoHo and on Canal Street) Once a while ago i even asked like EVERY LV booth if they had it and no one did.
I havent seen too many people with it........ yet!

Eh, I'm over it already! No one will ever REALLY know! I don't care too much about it.... I just wasnt sure if that was a decent price for a fake.

Yea.. she does get a discount, I forget the exact amount.. but 4 times per year she can get 80% discount on things... but only a certain number of things and not all items... she has a lot of perks with her job!!

Has it arrived at your house yet? I think you said it has - if it doesn't look cheesy/fake, then keep it! It'll be hard to find that as a knockoff on Canal (i'm there all the time) - and even if you DO find it, it'll be pricey.

no its hasnt arrived yet... but i'm sure it'll be ok... like you said, they dont sell the pet carrier knock offs on Canal.... so i thin ki'm ok on that end! and youre right, i guess that is a decent amount for that bag in particular. i'll let you know when it arrives.
