Love My Puppies!!!!

I keep seeing everyone writing about puppies they are getting, so I figured I would let everyone know there is a puppy store that just opened up in Wantagh, on Wantagh Ave. It is called Love My Puppies. They have cute little maltese, jack russell terriors, labs, yorkies, westies, and more. They even have cute carrying cases and leashes!!!! I wanted to buy them all!!!!!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but please do not buy a puppy from a puppy store, do some research, they are horrible!!!!

I am really sorry to have to say it, but I hate seeing those poor guys in those stores, it breaks my heart.....

I have to agree with the previous poster. Please buy from a reputable breeder so we can get those puppy mills out of business.

TOTALLY...my friend got her dog from a puppy store and it looks like it is stoned and has ADHD....there was probably inbreeding!!! anlso her mother took a dog off someones hands b/c they 'didn't have time for it' turns out it has mouth cancer and it's only f months old! the pet store owner said that he knew the dog was sick!!!!!

I know what you guys are saying, but this store wasn't like those other puppy stores..... This place only had like 10 puppies, and he goes directly through the breeder, only if someone requests a dog. They also weren't kept in cages. It definately wasnt your typical puppy store... When I spoke to the owner, I asked him about the dogs being healthy and treated right. He seemed genuine about making sure they were all taken care of properly.

You really need to be careful. I had some supposed breeder in Brooklyn who I ended up cursing out and reporting. Come to find out he has been arrested. He claimed all the wonderful things many of them do. I ended up researching for about 6 months and found that many of the people who I knew were reputable had 1-2 year waiting lists!!!! I ended up going through a woman in TX who I felt was the next best breeder up to those who I was not willing to wait for. She promised me everything and her husband is a vet so I really felt comfortable. P.S. my puppy came from the Ukraine when I was told 3 generations were bred here in America. I knew something was up when it took 6 months to get his papers. You just don't know and I would really try to go through someone someone else used or something and wait if you have to. I am soooo lucky my little man is 100%.

Think of it this way...if they treat puppies so badly there, she just saved one from that bad place.

And now she will have to fork over a ton of money for all the problems that puppy will have, and then she will either have to watch it die ot put it to sleep because there is nothing left to do for it......for what? To 'save' a puppy from a puppy mill? The point is to stop them, not try to save these sick inbred puppies.....

I totally agree with the other ladies. NEVER EVER buy a puppy from a pet store. If you MUST have a purebred dog (which I don't understand unless you will be showing or breeding) then go to a reputable breeder. Otherwise go to an animal shelter where thousands of adorable animals need a home. If no one bought puppies from the pet stores, then the puppy mills would go out of business. There is absolutely no good reason to buy a puppy (or kitten for that matter) from a pet store, no matter what the owner says.

you guys are right in some ways-- there are definitely some awful puppy places out there... but there are a few select puppy stores that get their dogs directly from breeders and provide you will all the information and are very on the 'up and up' about it... they are few and far between but it's possible and who knows if this store is a good one or a bad one...

just do research and if you can find one of those places then great!! you can tell how they treat them the second you walk in-- if they are not over-run with dogs, odor, a mess everywhere-- if they keep it clean and look like they take good care of the dogs they might be a good place! then check out the paperwork and the 'fine print'-- you can see if they are reputable or not if you do some research... i mean, breeders can be bad too, you never know... you just need to be careful and you can't say ALL places are bad for sure.

good luck to everyone who wants to own a pet-- it's such a nice thing to do and it's so rewarding. we have had our little angel for four days and each day is better and better- she is such a joy and a wonderful addition to our lives.

I sort of agree with the previous posters. DH and I have wanted a puppy for a long time. We looked a a pet store in the mall (we are on SI) and we hated it there. The dogs didn't look well, and it was just sad.

But then we did some research and found another pet store that provides you with all of the documentation on the puppy up to when you purchase he or she. So, we got our puppy there. So far she is the most lovely pet I have ever had. DH took her to the vet yesterday and she recieved a clean bill of health. Moral of the story is, do your research!

I totally agree. Adopting pups is so much more rewarding. I got all my dogs from North Shore Animal League and they (and all my pups) are fabulous

I agree. I rescued a dog from a shelter ( and sometimes you can get purebreeds) and it was the best descion I ever made (except of course to get married ) She is so loving and appreciative. I cry when I pass a pet store...it is just so sad!

We got our pup from a store in Hicksville. FM me for info. But they only sell pure breeds and we have yet to have a problem with him. My brother, however, got a puppy from a place in Huntington and the dog has been nothing but trouble, kennel cough, breathing problems, etc. So I think it depends on the store you go to. You definitely need to research!!
