Low carb not working

Original post by Danielle&Scott

I have been on the low carb diet now for 3 weeks. The first week I lost 4 pounds, and the second week I lost .5. I am supposed to weigh myself tomorrow morning, but I gotta tell you that I am afraid too.

I feel like I have gained weight. I can just tell...that I have. My pants arent getting any looser, and I actually feel like they are getting tighter on me.

I have been on weight watchers, and that worked for me, but I just hated counting all the points for everything that I ate.

I wish i could just eat what ever I wanted, whenever I wanted, but I know I cannot.

I am sure excersizing has a big part in me not losing any weight, and I am trying to get into excersizing now. I was sick this week, so I couldnt go walking, or go on the treadmill, but starting tomorrow I am going to start excersizing again.

Do you think that this has something to do with why I am not losing anything, and why I feel like I am gaining weight?

I dont know what to do....

Hmm...try this Scott:

keep of dairy unless fat free (cheeses, yogurt, milk)

if you are concerned about calcium, broccoli has alot of calcium actually.

drink more water. take your weight now, divide by 2 and that's how many oz. of water you should drink a day.

no deli meats - packed with sodium

honey roasted ham = sodium and sugar (the honey)

See how that goes.....

Good luck

I dont eat anything with honey in it.

For cold cuts, I have Boars Head oven roasted chicken, Boiled Ham, and Bolognia.

As far as dairy goes, I thought you are not allowed to have any fat free foods, especially milk. I only have half and half in my tea with splenda.

All the cheese I eat are far from fat free.

I drink more than enough water. I drink around 10 1pt.9 oz water bottles a day.

From what I've seen, fat free dairy (milk, cheese's, etc) are loaded with carbs. I believe its b/c most of the time they have added sugar.
Fat is what makes you full. Cheese is fine, but don't exceed 4 oz a day.

I don't think you are eating enough carbs! You should have some whole grains in your diet. Like oat bran, or something. you may have mentioned this, but do you exercise?

The cold cuts could be high in fat. Do you know the fat content?

Get the book sugar busters. It gives you a good idea of what to avoid.

I cant eat any bread products. I am on induction for Atkins. I have to eat fatty foods.

I agree on the veggies... try to have a salad with lunch and dinner; plus your dinner veggies.

As for the coldcuts and nitrates... in the very beginning I did the same.. a whole bunch of coldcuts, pepperoni, bacon, etc. It didn't hurt my loss. Those items are very high in sodium, so be sure to drink water to counteract.
Weird how drinking more water will make you not gain water weight.. I dont pretend to understand.

I think you're doing great.. you'll find out in a couple of days I guess!

I drink plenty of water as it is...So I think I will be ok on that. If I havent lost any pounds yet, it will be fine. I feel like I lost alot of inches in my stomach.
