Lynbrook PD Police Report/Wedding Day Review

Original post by aliasPook

Well DAWNIE had her wedding on SUnday, and everything went as planned. This is a two part story, so if you want to read the Police Report info, just scroll to the bottom...no hard feelings, I know some of you are at work, I understand...

RH Dinner: Paparazzi

Food was great, service was great, price was great.

Make-up: Jacqueline Nicole

DAWNIE, my mother, and her BM looked so beautiful, that it brought tears to my eyes. The make up was so done to look natural, and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Price was very reasonable also...

Hair: S/B Ciro, but he had a massive heart attack three weeks before the wedding. Elena the Bridal Assistant came on such short notice, and she did a beautiful job.

She did my hair and make up, DAWNIE's hair, and her BM's hair who used and extension. If anyone is considering using one, as long as the color matches, go for it. It looked beautiful, and our hair stayed all day long. I am using her for my wedding.

Transportation: Designer Limos

Ok, let's just put it this way. If it weren't for Ramon, our limo driver, who stuck his had under the hood of my car to disconnect the alarm, we would never had made it to the ceremony. This is part of the whole Police Report. You'll read about it later on. But they deserve an A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Our limo bar was stocked up with with liquor, and I believe the only people who were not feeling it by the time we arrived at the reception were three flower girls. The arrived very early and drive past the house on there way to pick up teh guys playing 'HERE COMES THE BRIDE...' on teh horn. Of course at first we freaked out because they were an hour early, but when tehy continued on towards the grooms we felt better.

Reception: FLOWERFIELD

WOW...that's all I can say...If you are getting married there, you are very, very lucky. It was beautiful, the food was delicious, the waitress was by our side every minute refilling our drinks. The place was beautiful, the bridal suite was stocked up with drinks and food and I loved the Bridal Attendant...(I didn't get his name, but he was a doll...)

DJ: Tommy Tunes

At no point during teh evening was teh dance floor empty...

I really can't comment on teh gown, other than it was beautiful. One complaint was that I couldn't get that **** detatchable train to stay on and it began to detatch at the alter. I was grinding my teeth telling DAWNIE, 'DON'T move...' and I kept trying to fix it. Couldn't get that thing off her quick enough.

MENTAL NOTE TO SELF: NO DETACHABLE TRAIN FOR MY WEDDING...

Photography/Video: Imagine

Awwwwweeeeee, these people were so nice!!! The were not pushy at all, creative and they helped me put the film in my own camera (because I couldn't figure it out for myself, and the used my camera to get the pictures that I wanted to be in. How sweet was that? NOw I can have my own copies and not have to wait forever for her proofs. I will let you know how they turn out.

Ok, some stupid b*tch in the Bridal Party walked off with my lap top, my keys, $200 worth of CLinique make up still in boxes (my mother stocked up during the last free gift sale at Century 21), $100 worth of Revlon, Ultima II, Cover Girl and max Factor make up that I bought at Rite Aid for half off, my SHOWGIRLS video and one other video, $40-something in cash, my fathers text pager taht belongs to the FSBNY, and best of all, my wedding checkbook with teh VISA check card and a balance of $16,698.00...
Ok? DON'T TRUST ANYONE IN YOUR HOUSE. EVER!!! i HAVE BEEN CRYING SINCE 8:00 LAST NIGHT, I HAD TO HAVE MY FATHER DRIVE ME TO BAY RIDGE HONDA AND HAVE MY KEYS REMADE FOR MY CAR ($90), WE CHANGED TEH LOCKS ($103)...my Laptop had all my wedding info on it. My guest lists, $200 worth of software, work stuff, pictures, and receipts...

TRUST NO ONE! This was someone that we knew, that we let in to out home. I had the police here today making out the police report and he kept shaking his head in disbelief. I am sick from this whole thing, I call in to work...I bought a half gallon of ice cream after closing my bank account and it's almost gone already. I am so sad over this...These are people that my sister has known here whole life, and I feel dirty and distgusting and po'd that they would have the nerve to do something like this...
Al I am pointing out is that no matter how well you know people, you never REALLY know them...
Sorry for the babbling, I am just freaking out still...

I don't care about the printing part, they wiped it clean. SHe saved file on my computer under Kathleen A. **********.doc, I know who did it already. But she still has a lot of my stuff, she wasted all of my make up, and she has probably done this before, and I don't she will stop now. She is 14, and normal 14 year olds might shop lift, but robbing a home is going a little too far...

Sorry T, I think you're wrong here. This little girl is only what? 13? 14? She clearly needs help of some kind and sometimes being 'Scared Straight' is the way to do it. What she did was soooo wrong and I can promise you that if this was 'let go', this kid would strike again. It's a downward spiral with kids like this. Sounds like the least of her issues is kleptomania.

It is simply not okay to go into someone's home and steal their stuff. The world doesn't work like that. If it did we'd have total anarchy.

Good for you aliaspook. And track down that money and checkbook!

I agree! I don't know how much money you lost, but I bet you can sue her parents or something once they get her to admit it. (she will)

I disagree with you here to T. Sorry - but I think if you had gotten absolutely everything back she should still get in trouble (maybe more with her family - but doubt that will happen) but here Laurie did NOT get everything back. She is still missing her keys, her checkbook and her money. That is a problem. I hate to say it b/c I don't like to see kids in trouble - but if she is 14 and stealing from people's homes in this manner what will this girl be doing by the age of 16?

What $$$$$$$$

I am not STARTING here. But I am not looking for people to agree with me..

I am entitled to feel as I do and Christine you should know the law and the system and what will really come of this!

Yes T I do know some of that law (not expert in Crim though) but I think it is more of putting a scare in her - maybe it will make her think twice about it - rather than having her thrown in jail (which doubt would EVER happen) but SHE might not be aware of that fact. If they come down on her maybe she will come clean (plus I think her parents should accept some responsibility for this girl. I do understand they probably have family issues - but if their daughter stole this stuff, ruined or used anything she stole - I believe that they should be responsible for restoring Laurie's items (either by compensating her for the damage done to certain items) or by replacing them. Laurie, I'm so glad to hear that you got some of your stuff back.

I'm just so shocked by this whole story... I commend you for keeping your cool and working through this the right way.

If I were you, I'd pursue this through the PD. It is not ok for someone to enter your home without permission and take your belongings!

Best wishes. I hope that this whole fiasco is straighten up quickly.

P.S. I love the tiara! If you had your heart set on it, clean it up and wear it!!

I am so happy for you that you got some of your things back. I hope you pursue this, as this girl obviously needs serious help.

Do not leave it alone. It is better to teach her a lesson now at 14 then when she is 22 and it is a crime that she can go to jail for. Even if she did return your stuff (and I know you are still missing stuff) it is a crime it is called breaking and entering. Laurie, do not forget too if they press charges against her under the victims something or other act she must REEMBURSE you for all of your expenses: the new keys, the new makeup and the new TIARA! Make sure you talk to the detective about this!

Good luck! I am so happy that you got everything back!

Re: Lynbrook PD Police Report/Wedding Day Review

These people are dirt poor. I mean DIRT POOR. It's sad. It seems that they had a normal, upper middle class life until Katie was born and she had a bunch of medical problems. Then in the early 90's, her father came down with MS. 2002, her mother had a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized for a week or so. I am not looking for reimbursement, they can't even afford to pay for my things less teh laptop. I spoke to the police, I am considering pressing charges in family court but only to get a restraining order. But this girl is not going to stop this. She hangs out with a bad crowd and she is quickly following their example. It has to stop somewhere. The police gave me the option of calling her mother or tehy would do it for me. I have been calling since 11.20, and there is no answer. Weird though beacsue they keep checking the messgaes, so I assume they are home. I am going to go there tonight or tomorrow.

And the money she took was somewhere between $40-50. What I REALLY want are my keys. I have car keys, work keys, house keys, Brian's keys, grandmother's house keys. And then teh other set of my fathers car keys. This is really what I am after, and to keep her as far as possible from my home.

Wow!! I can't believe all this!! I'm so glad you got most of your stuff back. This girl definately needs help - NOW, rather than later being thrown in jail. Hope everything works out!

Laurie: Please do not leave it alone. I appreciate the fact that this girl comes from a sad background and that some of your stuff was returned. But that's no excuse. She needs to start owning up to things now. If not I don't even want to think what she'll be doing at even 16. Also, if she knows that you know that she did it and nothing is done, she will just think that she can do whatever she wants and get away with it.

Good Luck and keep us updated

I agree she needs help now!! Although any kind of lesson will probably be lost on her. I'm so glad you got your stuff back - at least some of it!

Keep us posted - we're here for you!

Laurie: Did any money come out of your checking account? Was your debit and/or credit cards used?

Re: Lynbrook PD Police Report/Wedding Day Review

I am so happy for you that you got most of your stuff back. If she didn't use your checks, ATM cards or credit cards then I would be a little more lenient. Otherwise, I have no sympathy. An unfortunate background is no excuse for her behavior anyway. Its better she learn a lesson now. She'll be in jail before she's 20 at this rate.

I certainly WOULD NOT 'leave it alone' and don't think many others would. If you do then you're just saying that people can do that to you and get away with it because you won't do anything to stop them & that is STUPID!!!!!!

Clearly this girl needs help and if her parents cannot provide it then it is up to the authorities. DO NOT leave this alone - regardless of whether you got your stuff or not your rights were violated. I am so glad you got some of your stuff back. Hopefully this will resolve itself in a better way that it appeared likely to several days ago...

I am sooo happy that you got your stuff back--I would not under any circumstances let this rest--you have handled it thus far with such grace-I would love to say I would handle it the same way but I know myself better than that!! lol

I still can't believe someone would do this--my FSIL's sister got married back in August and when they got home from the wedding they realized they had been robbed blind---everything-gone--on such a happy day -- sooo sad---lesson ladies--DO NOT leave your houses empty on your wedding days-my parents got a house sitter for my brother's wedding and will get one for mine too---it's a sick world we live in---best of luck Laurie and let us know what happens!
