Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I chose Macy's because it is more accessible to more people on my guestlist (ie my mom - she lives and Queens and doesn't drive! There is no Fortunoff's in Queens). Whenever I go to a shower and the person registers at Fortunoff's, I always buy the gift at Macy's and call Fortunoff's to take it off the registry (because I live in Quees too and don't drive). There are a lot more Macy's around than Fortunoff's. Plus you can get most of the same stuff a lot cheaper. I know people say you can order online but there are plenty of older relatives on my guest list that aren't on the internet, plus than they have to pay shipping and handling.

I registered at Macy's and Crate and Bareel (for a few cute things). My experience with Macy's has been wonderful so far. I always went on Saturdays to register (I used the Manhasset Macys) and it wasn't ever crowded. I have edited and changed my registry online with no problems. I know people have ordered online and had no problems!

Fortunoff's. I have been really disappointed with Macys in general.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I would pick Macy's there aren't that many fortunoffs. It would be easier for your guests to use Macy's. I have had no problems with them at all.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I had been hearing negative feedback for a while regarding Macys customer service, so decided to go with Fortunoffs. I was worried because my side of friends and family are pretty much all in Westchester, and the closest Fortunoff is in Paramus. So we decided to just register for our fine china and crystal, for the most part, at Fortunoff. The bulk of our stuff is at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Pier 1.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I'd also say that it depends on your guest list. We went with Macys because we had lots of people who weren't from NY -- and we live near Boston so doing returns to Fortunoff would have been a big pain.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

both. fortunoffs is inconvenient for many of our guests who live out of town and do not use the internet. however, their customer service is excellent. i found that macy's customer service isn't great, but it has a much bigger selection (especially the herald square store) and is very convenient for out of town guests. you may want to look online and see what kind of selection both stores have and if they have the kinds of things you're looking for. also, if you can't find something in one store, consider registering at both.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I already registered at BBB for bath and kitchen. Al I would need to register for at either Macys or Fortunoffs is crystal, bedding, flatware and maybe a few electic appliances. I have to think about this.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

I just posted a whole story about my Macys woes a few days ago. I used Macys & Bloomingdales & Kohls(for small stuff) Macys has been aweful. Bloomies & kohls seem to be fine. Registering has been a big pain for me in general.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

Fortunoff's. I know there aren't alot of stores around for some of the guests who maybe from out of town could go on the internet if they are computer friendly. No matter what state they live in.

Re: Macy's or Fortunoffs????

About Bloomingdales, Registered there too. Great selection of things, especially in the Walt Whitman Mall. I registered at that store for a few things the other stores in the area didn't have, and it's set up very nicely, very organized.

I recommend Bloomingdlaes Highly.
