Macy's registry....ARRRRRGH Frustating!!!!

Yesterday I went to buy a gift for my friend Star (she posts on here sometimes) at Macy's. Her shower (which is not a supreise is on Sat)I was very excited ....had it shipped because she lives out of state. When I got home I decided to check on weddingchannel.com just to make sure it was taken off the registry list. The price on the internet was sooooooo much cheaper....I called customer service and they were like oh well too bad the order is already placed and going out to be shipped for an arrival date of 6/12 and its too late to cancel. The only thing you can do is have her refuse it, we will credit you and then u can buy it off the internet.....ARRRRRGGGH this pisses me off cause the savings is so big that I could have gotten her so much more with the money I would have saved. I dont want to make her go through all that hassle with everything else she has going on now... Has anyone else noticed this.... How should I let my guests know it would be better to buy off internet than go to the store for my wedding? jen

The clerk at Macy's did mention to me that the internet is connected with Macy's West, which is a different division than the one here in the East and that their prices were somewhat cheaper. My Mom told me that some of the items that were on my registry were more expensive in Phoenix than I was showing on my print out from the store here. I think the different divisions have sales at different times and it's sometimes reflected in the internet too. Another option, though it doesn't save you money, is to tell her she can return it to the store with her gift receipt and get the credit for what you paid then apply the difference to something else. At least it's more bang for the buck.
