Macys Bridal in Smithhaven Mall

Original post by antoinetteandanthony

I would just like to let everyone know the horrible experience I , and my bridal party, has had at the Macys Bridal Salon by Demetrios in the Smithhaven Mall.

Let me first start with my dress. I had 5 fittings, yes, you read that correctly, F-I-V-E! Actually, more like 6, bc the first time i had to come back because THEY told me to get the wrong kind of bra. So i came back with a different one. I needed it taken a lot in at the top (its strapless) and they pinned everything and all. They also took out some boning because they told me it'd look better. I come back, its still too loose up top, the dress falls when i raise my arms. I suggested they take it in in the waist, they told me that there wasnt enough to pin and that it couldnt be. it felt loose to me, but since i was like hey, they know what theyre doing because they are seamstresses, i believed them. it was also all bumpy by my boobs too, which they said theyd fix. I come back a 3rd time, its too tight and the zipper is pulling away from the dress, i cant breathe. and its still bumpy. i go back a 4th time and its too loose now, and my boobs look retarded. so then they decide to take it in in the waist (because i said so) and took in under my boobs. and its still bumpy. i go back a 5th time, and it fits fine, but is STILL BUMPY. oh and btw, i suggested they put the boning back in SEVERAL times but everytime they said it wouldnt make a diff. well at the 5th fitting, they put the boning back in they did and it wasnt all bumpy anymore. so they shouldve listened to me to begin with.

i go back today, when its supposed to be all cleaned and steamed and ready for pickup. they tell me theyve been working on it all day. WELL, it had dirty marks, pulls, and little holes from needle and sewn marks. everytime they went in to fix a part, they came out and something else was wrong. their solution was to add more beading to the parts that had wholes. but they don't know what theyre doing and it looked stupid, my maid of honor had to tell them how to fix it. i was there today for 4 hours. all in all its not perfect, it'll have to do, and even though noone will notice it, i do and im still so mad.

AND if you thought that was bad, my poor poor FMIL. she had her heart set on a blue dress for 2 years, which she ordered. she went today to pick it up, and it had water marks alllllll over it. they kept trying to get them off, couldnt, and told her she had to get a new dress, basically off the rack. they happened to have a dress close to her size from a cancelled wedding, but this dress was black and champagne, nice, but not as nice as her first dress. the manager kept saying how nice she looked, but really, just saying that because she had to . because they messed up. yet again. so my poor FMIL had to go around the mall and get new shoes, jewelery, hair piece.

my bridesmaids had trouble too, 2 out of the 4. 1 didnt get it altered there, which was smart. one of them they couldnt get the hem right, argued with her about it, then hemmed it unevenly. and it was too loose up top and the seamstress argued with her about that too

my maid of honors dress they claimed to have taken in but never did, so now she had to wear 2 bras to fill it out.

my moms dress was too long and they had to take it out a little, only because she asked.

oh and i didnt mention how rosey the seamstress is rude, huffed in my face, and my moh caught her and 2 others talking about us in spanish.

they act like they are helping you, but really they are just saying whatever. they fix one mistake and create another.

the seamstresses to not know what they are doing. my moh knew more about how to sew a dress then they did.

when i get back, corporate is going to hear an earful from me!

oh, and my weddings in 2 days.

they f-d up my dress at Macys Bridal in Menlo, NJ

Very close situation to yours.......I finally go to pick up my dress and it was stained......then after they fixed the stain they had me try it on one more time b/c they did alterations to 'fix something' - i don't know what they did but the dress didn't fit me anymore (after 5 horrible sessions)....i was so upset........the DAY BEFORE my wedding i had fittings ALL DAY LONG - in tears, with my HUSBAND there yelling at them......my husband actually saw me in my dress the day before our wedding b/c i was so upset crying that he ran into the fitting room.....

my dress was still messed up the day of my wedding luckily you can only see it in a few photos and only in some parts of the video

Honestly...I looked at the pictures and I understand you had a bad experience and maybe you need to be in person to see but the sample and your dress look exactly the same to me.

I'm having a problem at the Macy's in Smithaven with my dress too. If I had to do it over again I would have gone somewhere else. It started when they ordered the wrong size and then tried to tell me that it was my fault until they looked at the sheet where they measured me and realized they screwed up. I'm going on fitting #3 and it's still a disaster. I'm definitely not pleased with the customer service so far, but then I'm also having trouble with where I ordered my BM's dresses from so maybe I just had bad luck with dresses.

They look different to me, but you know, I don't think you look bad at all! I mean, I understand it is not the way you envisioned it and I know they have caused you a LOT of grief, but I think it looks better than you think it does! You look lovely and will make a beautiful bride!

thank you girls. i just looked at my dress and theres like a faint line that looks like a light brown but at this point im just done.

thank you to those who say i look okay. i think the 2 dresses look very diff. i feel like in person i liked how i looked better than how i look now.

my moh is also yelling at me bc shes like if u didnt like how it looked u shouldve said something.

after 5 fittings, what do u say? theyve already butchered the dress.

Not to me. I can see the difference between the two dresses.

I think you will look georgous on your day!! You look great in the final fitting picture!! I PROMISE you look great!!

I do see the difference in the tops of the two dresses though. First I see it in the beading and crystals. I see more crystals in the sample dress. The sample dress also seems to look more corset type in the entire top area than the final fitting dress. And lastly the top of the final fitting dress is completely different and definately higher up than the sample. I think the sample has a sweetheart where your final fitting doesn't have that at all. It goes straight across. The top of the final fitting is definately different... the whole top.

I will repeat though......... YOU STILL DO LOOK GEORGOUS! Your waiste looks tiny and you will be a beautiful bride!!! You gotta post some pics of the wedding when you have them!!

And apparantly it's NOT just one incident!!!!! WOW there are a lot of people out there with bad things to say about these people.

I did a registry in Macy's and BBB... and by FAR the BBB people were MUCH MUCH MUCH better to work with. AND BBB was easier to go through the whole store... because it's organized by item not designer!

THe dress looks different on you because you changed the top of it. Making it straight across will change the way it looks on you. THat you cant blame Macys for if you ordered it that way.

whether the neckline is straight or dips in the middle doesnt change how it fits, on my boobs, waist, or hips...are you macys cheerleader?

and kelly, no it might not be all of them , but i still think they should lose some business over all this.

they will just start to get a bad reputation bc im sure i and my fmil, bridesmaids arent the only ones who have had a problem.
alli3131 Posted:

Re: Macys Bridal in Smithhaven Mall

Nope not a cheerleader....Im just saying that you cant compare the 2 pictures because the dresses are different. A sweetheart top will look completely different on the same person that the straight top.

I already said sorry you had a bad experience. It happens and its not right but it happens. I had a horrible experience with vendors but once again...it happens....doesnt mean that everyone will have the same bad experience.

And yup we share more than just Macys as a vendor.

Re: Macys Bridal in Smithhaven Mall

I was the girl in Macys Bridal yesterday with my sister and brother. I was having my sister try on BM dresses while you were in there, because i remember your FMIL asking our opinion on her black and champaigne dress.

I'm so sorry to hear what a disaster everything was for you last night!!

Your FMIL did look beautiful in the black and champaigne dress last night, and i'm 100% not just saying that, the top was very flattering on her. I cant believe its 2 days until your wedding, and when your FMIL said that I couldnt believe that!

I didnt realize that your dress was having problems as well! The straight across does look different than the sample, but not a bad different. I know its so close to your wedding, but if you were to change anything more on it, i would have them keep working on the bust! They should fix it until you are happy, bottom line!

Did they measure you correctly?

O NO!!!!! dont worry-
DEEP BREATHES- i had the same thing happen to me with the guy who was playing the music at my ceremony & cocktail hour- his father passed away and he had to fly to Israel-
i mean i felt horrible but it was like a week before my wedding and I was left with no one-

BUT it worked itself out- i found someone else...and maybe it wasnt exactly what i wanted but it was fine and he played great-

so i'm sure the other hair dresser will get your hair done right- can you go for a trial tomorrow???? or maybe just go early to make sure you get what you want- GOOD LUCK!

hi! yes i remember seeing u! i have no idea if they measured me correctly, i was like 2 diff sizes so they went with the bigger one bc they figured its easier to go smaller than bigger. unfortunately my weddings tomo so whats done is done ya know? my fmil does look nice in that dress just the whole situation stinks. good luck with your wedding... just be cautious with them altering if u got your dress there as well. i really dont think they know what they are doing. i mean i guess they have to somewhat to get a job there lol but overall they arent good at what they do in my opinion.
